I should be asleep, I’m east coast
Crazy game. Hernandez stuck at second because the guaranteed error hits the umpire. When’s the last time you saw an umpire other than the plate get hit by a ball, much less a throw?
The wife has banished me from the living room. She doesn’t want my negative vibes ruining things while she works her zoom-zoom.
Should have walked the guy. My Astros never fail to make a dumb move. 3-1 count, first base empty, two outs and a one run lead? Should have walked him and brought in a different pitcher.
Please continue posting your pessimism it seems to be working.
Well, if the Dodgers don’t finish this off soon to win, they’re not going to have anyone left to pitch if it goes past about the twelfth.
Look, I’m rooting for the Dodgers all the way. I was just also being realistic.
Looks like the state of the bullpen is unlikely to matter.
Holy jesus please let this be enough.
I’m having bad flashbacks of Charlie Kerfield, Dave Smith, and Brad Lidge. This one is a nail biter.
With Justin Turner (hopefully not) starring as Albert Pujols.
Win or lose, how much of the talk tomorrow will be discussing the decision to pull Hill so freaking early? I don’t believe you can ever put everything on a manager, but this seems like a badly managed game.
holy crap what a game.
No kidding. My heart was pounding through that final out. And I don’t really care about these teams!
So why was Hill pulled after four? I was only intermittently watching the first few innings, but he was pitching decent and striking out a lot of guys. Was there anything with the game circumstances that would justify pulling him?
He struggled pretty hard in the previous inning and had thrown a lot of pitches. Pretty early pull nonetheless.
The ball was certainly “carrying well” tonight.
Why did Dave Roberts take Hill out at the end of the fourth?? Seems like this loss is on Roberts for overmanaging.
The commentators were saying that Hill is almost never allowed to go through the lineup more than twice. He’s only faced the same batter three times in the same game once.
Whether that makes sense or not I can’t say, but that’s the reason they gave. And the Dodgers trust their bullpen enough to use that strategy.
And it did nearly work.
If you want to talk about burning pitchers early, I’m really surprised they took Maeda out so quickly. He seemed like he could have gone a full 3 innings and made up for the early hook.
Last night too, when it was hit. Coors Field, in LA.
Go Astros!!!
And so the vaunted Dodger Jesus Bullpen melts down for one night, at least.
