MLB: Opening Day!

Very frustrating to see the Yankees blow a lead last night, but it alleviated somewhat by the fact that it’s good to have baseball back, and the fact that I had to spend most of last night watching Life, so I couldn’t get infuriated by each and every moment of the game.

And knocked in another run just now. On top of that, it’s against the Cubs. So I’m feeling good about that.

Testify brother! Taking two of three from those redbird bastards will be the reaping of the just rewards they have now sown for unfairly having a player of Poo-Holes’ caliber and ruining the tradition that is Cincinnati Reds Opening Day!

Motherfuck. Our bullpen had a colossal meltdown. Note to Dusty Baker: YOU DO NOT PITCH TO ALBERT PUJOLS…EVER!

Great start to the Phils season. Hopefully, Halliday can keep up being efficient and eating up those innings. Keep those bullpen arms fresh for the Moyer starts.

These announcers on the Cubs Braves game sound like Braves announcers. But, it’s on ESPN. That catch McClouth made seemed like an obvious drop to me and the announcer said when asked if he thought it was a catch “The rule says that you have to take the ball out of the glove yourself. Sometimes we don’t follow the letter of the law with all the one handed catches.” I don’t even know what that means. Anyway, the Braves crushed the Cubs. Heyward looks nothing short of amazing.

You do not stand alone either!

Redlegs forever!

Grinke no decision. Tigers win. Rookies Sizemore and Jackson showed real speed going from 1st to 3rd on a hard single without even drawing a throw to 3rd. Zumaya reached 102 and threw a curve several times. He faced 4 batters ,no hits walks or loud fouls. Seems like a pretty good start for Detroit. Cabrera goes 3 for 4. Tigers got 12 hits. They used a bunch of relievers and got the jitters out.

Stand and be counted!

Where were you guys during the Bengals season?

::shrugs::

He gave up 1 hit.

That’s not unique to Canada. There is not, as a rule, a full slate of games on the U.S. Holidays Memorial Day (end of May) or Labor Day (beginning of September) either. I suspect it is because Monday off is worked into the schedule, and they just can’t be bothered to go to the effort to change it.h

Don’t worry, MLB didn’t forget to schedule the Red Sox at home for Patriots’ Day.

What’s wrong with mark Buehrle? He gave up 3 hits yesterday!

The Rays will gladly trade either the Yankees or Red Sox into your division in exchange for the Washington Nationals.

I see Jason Frasor is in fine form already. Should probably get used to that.

And Halladay threw only 88 pitches in seven innings, even picking up nine strikeouts along the way.

Can Greinke win back-to-back Cy Youngs and not 20 games in either season? And Soria will once again be one of the best closers in baseball except that there won’t be any close/save opportunities for him

Joe
the Royals bullpen is always crappy

Hell the Rays would gladly trade either those teams for the Phillies.

If we’re going to go that way I’d happily trade the Rays into the NL East for the Phillies. Two doormats, one team that is wealthy but doesn’t spend it wisely and folds late, another that is decent but nowhere near the AL East behemoths. Plus we can’t afford a big name DH anyway - the guy we took from the Phillies was a bust, and the other position players were sort of a carousel at DH.

Woot! The Rays are (momentarily) leading the AL East! And they did have a rally in the bottom of the ninth with a two run, walk off double by CC. That, my Cincinnati friends, is how it’s done.

I think this is the type of thing that got him fired in Chicago.

Nah, it was things like “I don’t want my slow guys walking and clogging up the bases” and “black players don’t do as well in the hot day games”.

Oh, and destroying Kerry Wood and Mark Prior’s arms didn’t help either…

I thought he said white players didn’t do as well in the hot sun? Maybe I’m misremembering…

Pujols is just…amazing. The Cards are lucky to have him. He’s probably the best hitter I have ever seen. That said, I’m sure glad the Redlegs got a sparkling outing from Arroyo today and managed to just beat the Cards and avoid the sweep.

The Cubbies are coming to town tomorrow, I expect us to win at least 2 of those games.
