MLB Playoffs 2018: Who Wins It All?

He did tumble into the seats, but it was a fowl ball. The rule allows that?

Don’t know about chicken balls, but on a foul ball, if the player who catches it falls into the seats, the ball is dead and the runners advance one base.

I did not know that. Thanks.

What’s with all the divots in the field?

Yep

Number 6

I went to sleep early last night as I need to work today, beginning at 5am. It was nice to see that I would be able to watch a replay of last night’s game before I went in.

Oh … 18th friggin’ inning? Amazing.
Hold that thought … walk off. It’s finally over.

Wow! What a game!

I am sure that’s the second 18-inning playoff game I’ve now watched, as I know I watched Giants-Nationals back in 2014. Of course, that one went 18 full innings since the Nationals lost.

It’s not very impressive when a game on the east coast goes past midnight. It’s definitely something when one on the west coast does.

I wonder what this has done to the Red Sox pitching, especially since they’ve got two more games under NL rules.

Still, great pitching by Eovaldi. You’d love a performance like that out of your starting pitcher, and to have to do so much in relief was really something.

Watched every pitch. Definitely one for the ages. As a Sox fan, I feel bad for Eovaldi. He probably feels he let the team down right now. I place the loss on Betts, Bogaerts and Kinsler.

If I were Max Muncy, my post game interview would be: It felt great. Goodnight!!

Incredible game! Gotta hand it to the Dodgers, and Walker Buehler pitched a great game.

Kirk Gibson, and Max Muncy. We’ve got a series now.

As a Dodgers fan and a baseball fan, I really admire Eovaldi’s performance. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad he takes the loss. But I agree, he’s not the cause of the loss. Getting tired, everybody swinging for the fences, eventually a mistake was going to be made and exploited.

Wow, what a game.

2-1 sure sounds better than 3-0.

I started watching at the start of the 10th. I still got to watch a full ball game. Excellent throw to end the top of the 10th made it all possible.

I found it interesting that, with everyone swinging for the fences (and failing), it was a nice, controlled attempt to go the opposite way with a pitch on the outside of the plate that resulted in the homer. Well done.

Now, to bed at 3:46 pm.

Apparently watching baseball from China and with some odd sleeping habits, it’s DSYoungEsq.

Walker Ferris Buehler Texas Ranger (as we call him 'round these parts) is the next Kershaw. He shut down the best lineup with 2 hits, 0 ER and 7 K. When he was pulled, Clayton gave him a big “come here, you” hug. Priceless.

Still, Sox in five.

(flees virtual Dodger locker room)

What’s interesting is that for the year, Red Sox hitting was noticeably better against right-handed pitching. And yet, they’ve gotten the better of the Dodgers’ two left-handed aces and they were dominated by Buehler, the Dodgers’ lone right-handed starter. All I can think of is location, location, location. It doesn’t matter how great a lineup is. If a pitcher is hitting his spots and mixing up the speed, that puts pressure on the lineup. That’s why there’s the old adage ‘Great pitching beats great hitting.’

On another note, it was nice to see Grandal recover and at least not make any major gaffes.

I still feel Boston will win, but my thought all along is that this could go at least 6 games and I could see this going to a seventh. You have to think Kershaw and Ryu will pitch better than they did in games 1 & 2.

Great game. It shouldn’t be on Eovaldi. I think he was overworked. Was there nobody left in the bullpen?
