MLB Playoffs 2018: Who Wins It All?

I believe he was the only pitcher left, besides Chris Sale.

Pomeranz and Sale were the only players they had left, period. If Núñez had to come out, I guess they’d have moved Betts to the infield and put Sale in the outfield. Pomeranz had a terrible season and hasn’t pitched since September 30th. He publicly admitted he was shocked to make the WS roster.

Uh, ooops. :o

I finally gave up and went to bed at the end of the 16th, which was 2 AM my time. But I feel like I got a preview of the eventual ending with Muncy’s near-miss foul ball in the 15th.

A lefty bat like Muncy’s is why he on the roster.

For game 4 the line currently is BOS +140, LAD -165.

I can’t find any currently-updated odds on who’s favored to win the series. Can anyone find that?

Cora finally managed himself into a loss. I mentioned before I wasn’t thrilled about his management but the means justify the end. Sitting Benintedi? Moreland hitting in the 3 hole? Can JD really not play 1B? Yanking Porcello after 4 2/3 while he was cruising?
His mismanagement depleted the pitching staff, took JD’s bat away for 9 innings, and limited Benintendi to one pinch hit AB. This loss is on Cora (but Kinsler owns a piece of it too).

Just some mild ribbing. But it’s definitely games like last night’s that make me realize yet again how great the Mountain zone is for live sports.

Very much ready for the computer umpire overlords after last night / this morning.

Strike zone calls got increasingly inconsistent as the innings wore on, in my opinion, but I tend to cut them some slack. As Smoltz mentioned, the umpires had to spend all 7+ hours on their feet; they don’t get to go sit down for half-innings like the players do. That’s a long time to stand and pay attention to stuff.

And Puig makes it 4-0 Dodgers…

I’m not as upset with Rodriguez for giving up a gopher ball as I am with him not running to second base. What’s up with that shit? You’re in the WORLD SERIES, man. You would never see an NL pitcher dogging it like that.

And while I’m at it, what’s with all the throwing errors? …

I feel sorry for Rodriguez; he had done so well prior to that inning. Rich Hill certainly deserved his standing O on being taken out.

Like E Rod was cruising before he wasn’t? There is no evidence that how well a pitcher pitches in one inning effects how he does the next inning except that pitchers get worse the later they stay in. The Red Sox had a bullpen that has been excellent lately and starters available. There is no reason to wait for Porcello to get into trouble to pull him. Given that the Red Sox bullpen did pitch 7 shutout innings after this, really hard to make the case that this cost the Red Sox.

On the other hand leaving Erod in seemed clearly to be a mistake, an a surprising one given the rest of the postseason.

E Rod has had some serious ankle issues. Running might not have been a good idea for him. I doubt it is laziness.

Then I stand corrected. Thanks.

So is this one getting to the 19th?

I hope he gets crucified for slamming his glove. I get that it’s the World Series, but that will be his legacy from this game, not a gutsy performance to that point. Good hitters hit mistakes. Babies slam their gloves.

That said. YOU GO DEVERS!!! Never doubted you for a second! CoughLoosens tieCough

Seriously? You are complaining about a player showing emotion in the world series? Probably should watch the Griffey commercial a few more times.

This is just silly.
