Freeman has been so superb that even if the Yankees pull off a miracle and win this Series, one wonders if Freeman might still be named MVP despite being on the losing team.
I certainly hope not. Those two idiots should be banned for life. That was a mugging and Betts could have suffered a series-ending injury.
You mean they will not be allowed to attend. As it should be. I agree with BlankSlate: those two should be banned for life, from all MLB stadiums.
Right. To clarify, the fans were originally told by security that they could return for game 5, but MLB then contacted the Yankees and told them no way.
Yes, there was a follow up article in which MLB then clarified - the fans had first been told they could indeed come.
I was listening on the radio and my first thought as I heard it described on the ESPN broadcast was a Futurama reference.
From X:
Austin Capobianco said he got a call from the Yankees today about being banned tonight. Was told if he or his friend try to get in with other tickets, they’ll be arrested at the door. He’s hoping it’s a short term ban
Should be one year minimum and they lose those season seats and seniority. If they get season seats again, it’s back of the line.
I’m still bemused that the fan seemed to be using NFL reception logic, that if he could pry the ball out of Betts’ glove in time and claim Betts never had possession, then it wouldn’t be a fly out.
Well, it’s happened before, in 1960.
If the Yankees were to pull off an 0-3 comeback though, there would be a deserving Yankee.
Ah… so, nostalgic for the vintage Bronx of the time of their last prior series encounters
It’s about time!!
First HR in 25 at-bats!
And a back-to-back from Chisolm. That’s starting strong.
How come Chisolm’s hairdo isn’t in violation of Yankee rules?
What rule would it violate? It’s not very long.
I thought they had to more or less have crew cuts. All the rest of them do. He seems to have dreadlocks, though pretty short.
Right, the rule is reported everywhere as based on length not specific style.
In the current years the close haircut is a popular style anyway so it’s often adopted by guys for ease of maintenance. But to take someone else in the field today for example, Cole does not have a crewcut or a fade.
It was a Steinbrenner thing when he was Yankee boss.
Even the stick-up-their-ass stiffs in charge of the Yankees wouldn’t dare to ban a well-kept black hairstyle. Cole’s hair is just as long or longer.
…aand the Dodgers escape the possibility of even more serious damage.
Having seen those first games, though, nothing is certain however early the lead.
Now, the bad decisions from Roberts start.
