Well, not at that late point in such a rout. If the game had been 7-6, or even within one swing of a tie (4 runs), they’d have pulled out the tarp.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a game played in a downpour like that, but it’s not unusual for them to play to the end of an inning or the end of a game if it’s raining because they want to get to a good stopping point.
If it had been a regular season game, they would have simply called it.
If it had been anywhere near a close game (4 run difference or less), they would have delayed it.
If it had been before the 9th, they probably would have delayed it.
As it was, a 9-0 game with 2 outs in the 9th, I don’t think there was anyone in the ballpark, including the Cardinals, who wanted the game to be paused. They would have played through an earthquake to get it finished last night.
I think it was two or three at-bats, not just Holliday. But yes, the game was a blowout and it was the middle of an inning. They wanted to get it over with.
What an uninspiring World Series. I don’t like or dislike either team. So, although I’m eager to watch, I don’t really care who wins. I guess I’ll pick Detroit as it’s been 28 years. (I’m a Cubs fan)
I expect 7 1-0 extra-inning games.
For a non-fan, that would be an incredible treat. For a fan, that would induce heart failure.
Nah, that’s just a regular week at AT&T Park
I’m heading home now to watch the game.
#RallyZito and Go Giants!
Apparently Verlander is not God after all…
Snerk. Buck & McCarver are furiously editing their script. Or they’ll just stay with “there must be some mistake…”
Wooooo! Panda!!!
Panda pwns Verlander. Including the All Star Game, 2HR and a triple with 6RBIs.
It’s funny that it all started with an incredibly lucky bounce off of third base. It was heads-up baserunning to make it into a double; I wonder if Verlander might have gotten out of it if it had been a single.
That ball hitting third base reminded me of the ball that Ian Kinsler of the Rangers hit in the 2010 Series, that bounced off the top of the fence and back in play, instead of over for a home run. Sometimes, the balls just all seem to bounce your way
Verlander looked genuinely confused watching that second home run.
Could there be any more freak things go against Detroit?
Weird hit/bounce just in front of the plate resulting in the end of the side.
This just ain’t their game tonigt.
It looks like they’re not going to bother editing the script after all. Now they’re talking about how Verlander gets better as the game goes on. “You’ve gotta get him early…”
Yeah. Maybe the Giants should do that…
:smack:
To all of the people who think the DH should be adopted universally…
That’s 4 games in a row with an RBI by a Giants starting pitcher.
I think we can call this one done.
5-0 , if Detroit can come back from this and win game one I’ll be shocked.
Wasn’t this Verlander guy supposed to be nigh unhittable? Our pitcher is hittinf RBI singles off him.
I know…he’s no better than Cliff Lee!
It was the same with Cliff Lee in 2010. Second coming of Christ? Maybe not…
