Extra innings! I love this game!
Seriously. As a Giants fan, THANK YOU MATT WILLIAMS!!
Was he tired after throwing 100 pitches? Had he not dominated sufficiently? Weird.
Didn’t look like watermelons to me, and according to the ESPN pitch-by-pitch tracker, his fastball in the 9th was at 94, which is exactly what it was in the first inning.
He threw two pitches at 95 all night, and the rest of his fastballs—including all of them in the ninth inning—were between 90 and 94.
He’s thrown 100+ pitches 11 times this year, including 5 of his last 7 starts.
Did I just see a 1925 American League pennant flying over the stadium? (a) The Nationals are not the Senators and (b) they’re not even in the American League. That pennant should have gone to Minnesota.
OMG that was a shoulder high ball. Fuck
Cabrera’s gone.
and Williams’ gone.
and the umps are clueless.
Those last two pitches to Cabrera were strikes, according to Fox’s pitch tracker. G’bye, meat.
I understand the Nationals’ frustrations, but the Pitch FX on FOX, and the one on MLB.com, both show it right at the top of the strike zone.
I actually have no problem with umpires calling those, as long as they’re consistent about it. For too long, the strike at the top of the zone appeared to disappear altogether, and i’m glad that the use of tracking technology has led to it being called more often by home-plate umpires.
And now, to Zimmerman, the ump just called balls on two curveballs that looked to be right in the strike zone.
Did I just correctly see that Dodgers/cards tonight is only on MLB network? Any they fucking kidding me?
The next Giants/Nats game is only on MLB, too.
Hey, Fox has to show a crappy Arizona St/USC game and Fox Sports 1 has to show two guys punching each other in the crotch. So MLB Network it is.
Wow, that is fucked up. Glad i can watch on MLB.com. I think that MLB should make it a condition of getting postseason play that the successful network must show ALL games.
And what’s with starting the late game at 9.30 Eastern? You poor bastards on the east coast will have to stay up until about 1.00 a.m. to see the end of the game. Ridiculous.
And that’s a constant complaint from the East Coast. And it’s why I still argue (although there are posters who disagree with me) that the Mountain zone is the best time zone for live sports. As it is, I may have to configure picture-in-picture if the Dodgers game starts before this game is over.
I’m a big fan of Central for sports-timezone reasons. Gives you a key extra hour without giving you that awkward “it’s 11pm and there are… no more sports on?!” feeling. Like Chicago needs anything else to recommend it.
Thankfully, if there’s one series I can live without seeing the entirety of, it’s the Dodgers/Cardinals. That said, at the rate they’re going and with the bullpens so fresh, we could be going long into the night with this one…
End of eleven.
This has been quite a bunch of playoff serieses so far.
Fox loves the transformer, machine, robot, bloop bleep bloop animation shit for all of their sports don’t they? They are even transforming the NLDS logo tonight.
And so many empty seats right behind home plate. What a bunch of rich douches.
The “arrive in the 3rd, leave in the 7th” Dodgers fan stereotype exists for a reason. Or are you talking about the Nationals game?
Nats.
It’s a saturday night, playoffs, extra innings, and people can’t ride it out behind home plate? Superfans!
Wait, I thought you were a Cubs fan. Why are you pulling for the Nationals?
I agree, though, that is some major dumbassery there on display behind the plate.
