My two daughters woke up this morning not feeling so well. They both have low grade fevers so I let them lay on the couch and watch movies. I felt like making cookies to cheer them up. The movie is over, the cookies are all done. Right after we have soup for lunch we are going to each have a cookie.
mmm … my neighbourhood always smells like cookies for some reason. There’s no bakery nearby (there are two chocolate factories, tho) so I can’t imagine where it comes from. Maybe a big, secret, underground cookie op?
No matter. Of all the things an urban neighbourhood could smell of, I think cookies are one of the best !
I think we need to ship the smell to the Middle East. Seriously, who in the world would want to go out and get into a fight if they could smell a batch of fresh baked cookies?
Well, three hours after they were done, we finally sampled one, er two… ok we each had three.
Delicious. I should make cookies more often. They are great medicine. Both kids are up and playing without fevers.
Now if I could get them to clean their room.
SNIFFFFFF…SNIIFFFFFFF DANG! I can’t smell any cookies here!
I’m jealous! I wanna lay around on the couch all day and watch movies and have someone take care of me…
No fair, I’m sitting here with nary a cookie in sight AND a rumbly, tumbly tummy! How can you torture us this way?! I want some cookies right now (seeing as they’re CHOCOLATE chip and all, my FAVORITE)! Can you share, pretty please?!
Last year for Christmas my sister gave everyone a do-it-yourself batch of chocolate chip cookies. It was a big mason jar with the ingredients - oats, sugar, flour, choc chips etc - stacked in layers, with a recipe (‘add butter and eggs, stir, bake’) attached.
What a great idea ! It’s the best way of giving that smell as a gift.
