Also, They found Waldo
It got up to 59F here today. It’s only down to 48F now.
I played around with some paper scraps and new stencils for some silly cards this evening.
9:45pm as I start typing so this is the late night final for me. Not that there is anything much to report. Chee-burger and chips have been eaten and am now shuffling the snack calories to tomorrow’s count (hey, if the government can push things down the line, so can I…). Think that dishwashering and some laundry (at least 2 loads) will be done tomorrow, so that is my constructive plan. I’ve manage to get my desk in order (even managed to recover the missing chess piece without to much fuss) and need to work on the top of the filing cabinets tomorrow.
The Verizon Internet is not very good, all my You Tube Videos open at 360p or lower and if I try to upgrade them to HD they ‘stall out’ after a couple of minutes. As for the live action Train You Tubes I like to watch, can’t get any of them to play for more than a few minutes before they stall for 5-30 seconds so I’m always falling behind. Still have the AT&T stuff so if it is still unsatisfactory tomorrow, back goes the stuff to Verizon. Maybe they just should stick to phones, I have no issues with them there.
nellie, best wishes to daughter, what a mess she’s inadvertently in the middle of. And if you want a movie, try The Aristocrats instead of The Aristocats, the cat won’t care and you’ll be entertained (shocked to your core, but entertained…). And damn sad news on brother-from-another-mother, nice that he still remembers you. And three cheers for the painting crew.
I’d say two weeks but you might hit me with a waffle iron…
doggio, thanks, a little good news is always welcome these days.
And time to collect myself and head off to bed. See y’all on Thorsday.
Go to the auto parts store and buy a magnet on a stick. They are extendable and you can put some inside out tape on the end to pick up non-magnetic stuff when needed. Mine gets used for needles or poking cats ![]()
I get “click click click” when the battery’s frozen.
You’ve heard of the Nine Circles of Hell, right? There’s the little-known circle 0.1 for people who make those kind of jokes. ![]()
Don’t like hot weather. I suffer when we get the high 30s in the summer.
@Taters , that sounds like a lovely anniversary supper. The restaurant obviously saw it as a special occasion. Many happy returns!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 29 degrees Ferret Height(-1.667 Centipedes). Wonder what fun TVCTPMO has in store for me.
As long as it’s not the Circle where demons beat you with sausages. Because that would be the wurst.
F or C?
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 29 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 55 and cloudy. The plan of the day is to hermit. This is fine by us, of course. Part of the morn will be spent goin’ through the file cabinet to purge some old stuff. RDOS inactivities will make up the rest of the day. Sup will be steak, baked sweet N.O.T., sallit, and cheesey garlic bread. Easy and tasty.
{{{Nellie}}} cause it looks like you need hugs. My guess is the cat would probably like a slasher movie.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Thursday Y’all!
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 3c/38f with a predicted high of 6c/43f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s fucking colder than a frog’s arse.” I have no idea how cold a frog’s backside gets. Do you?
That sounds nasty, let’s hope today sees some improvement.
I saw the pics on FB, looks like the restaurant really made an effort to help you celebrate. I’m glad you had such a fabulous night.
That’s very dedicated of you! How far is the walk from where they’ve parked to your house? Or do you drive them back?
Poor kitty, I hope she got lots of cuddles to help warm her up again.
‘im indoors is very partial to A&W’s diet root beer. He got very excited when we were on a trip to Canada and spent the night in a little place called Salmon Arm, and we found an A&W place there. He bought two big bottles of his favourite beverage and had finished them both before we flew home again.
Ouch! I hope the paon meds and heating pad do the job for you. Definitely a good idea to stay inside where it’s safe and warm.
I am sure your stomach approves of that post!
{{{{{nellie}}}}} Sounds like there is a lot going on in your world. Good to hear that your daughter’s had some legal advice, it will help her make some decisions and plans. Eeek on the news about AP’s husband though…I hope the kids are ok. As for critters, I live with someone who will put the heating on because the cats are cold (even though said critters are nowhere near anything that would provide any warmth.
Yesterday was the predicted waste of a day here in the office, far too noisy to get any real work done. I went home and fed the cats, then had a restorative cup of tea, and we went to the pub for a curry. Afterwards, we went up the road to a different pub that does a Cask Ale Club promotion on Wednesdays and had some reasonably-priced beers. We met up with one of our pub friends who goes in there sometimes and had a nice catch-up with him. I didn’t get to bed until nearly midnight, and was up at 5.30am so I may well need some strong cups of tea today.
My back is still pretty sore, and then there this:
It only hurts if I rub it. And it looks worse this morning than it did last night - many little red spots.
Ah memories! I came in early one day with a bunch of cleaning gear because ours was particularly gross. Someone spilled a coke and couldn’t be bothered to wipe it up - none of it!! I emptied the whole fridge, including the shelves. I washed everything! And I had to deal with folks from other offices who used our fridge - they were pissed that they couldn’t put their lunch during cleaning. Buttheads. ![]()
From that day forward, I didn’t use the fridge. If it got gross, I didn’t care. In fact, until my very last job 6 years ago, I woudln’t use work fridges. Too many piggish co-workers.
That’s FCD’s current favorite non-caffeinated beverage. It was on sale at Food Lion last week and I got him a dozen cases of cans. Luckily, we have the space for it all!!
{{{nellie}}} - I’m so sorry you’re dealing with so much. Please accept some virtual medicinal chocolates or beverage of your choice - heck, take it all!!
13 Ferrets this morning, and indoor humidity back down to 27% - partly because one of the misters ran out of water overnight. It’s refilled now. Today’s big plan is a trek to the boat. I want to check the fit of the practice cover I made. Plus I want to see all the newly painted decks.
Once we get home, I’ll clean the basement fireplace. That’s as far ahead as I’ve planned. If my back didn’t hurt so much, I’d go out and try to break up more ice, but that ain’t gonna happen today.
Someone is antsy to get going, so I need to shower and dress.
Happy Thursday!!
Today is @EllieNeo 's birthday. After we pick her up from work, she’s going to a dermatologist appointment to get a spot checked out, and then we’re going to get dinner and see the movie Hamnet. I’m deliberately going into the film completely blind.
It’s 23 ferrets outside now.
Last night, Ellie fed the outdoor cat Shadow at her usual time, and after she went back in, Kestra saw him from inside the trailer and ran out of the trailer to chase him. She was just trying to play with him, probably. Like she used to play with Binx. But Ellie had a fraught two minutes chasing after her and getting her back.
plumbing update: The crew got here at 9.00 and went to work. They did a great job and by 6.00pm everything was up and running but the shower. They will be here is a couple of hours to get that running temporarily.
Our shower has two faucets, a hot and a cold. This no longer meets code do to the possibility of scalding if just the hot water is turned on. We have an old fashion tile enclosure. Changing to a single faucet would leave holes where the old faucets are. He gave us a bid on removing the old tub and the tile surround and replacing it with a new modern tub/shower combination.
This will likely be done next week.
I still find it amazing that we have actual hot water pressure in our kitchen sink. I can’t walk past it without turning it on and watching it work. Our kitchen sink has just has a trickle of hot water for a long time.
It’s a bit of an ordeal, let me tell ya.
Out driveway is very rough. It’s single lane, 1200 feet, and gravel. From the road, it curves slightly for the first 900 feet. And then, very abruptly, it turns 90 degrees and goes up a steep hill. In conditions like this, we can’t get up the hill. (See my pics in my previous post.)
When my wife got home from work last night, I told her to simply drive in, and park before the 90 degree turn. She did that. So here’s what I had to do at 5 AM this morning:
- Go down to where her car is parked.
- Start it up.
- Put it in reverse and back all the way out to the road (about 900 feet). I can’t see out the back window, so I have to open the car door and look back. It’s very difficult to do this, especially when it’s dark, as I can only see the snowbank on one side of the driveway. One false move and I’m in a snowbank, and stuck.
- Turn around after getting to the road, and then back in to the driveway 900 feet, just before the turn. Again, this is hard to do.
The purpose of all of this, of course, is two-fold: 1) warm up my wife’s car, and 2) orient her car so that she doesn’t have to drive in reverse.
Oh, and multiply everything above by 2, as I also have to do this w/ our daughter’s car.
Good morning.
It’s 48F and a light rain is falling. We are expecting off-and-on rain, cloudy skies, and a daytime high of 53F.
Crafter_Man, I’m sure your wife and daughter really appreciate your thoughtfulness.
Nellie, sending you and your daughter hugs. I’m glad she received some legal counsel. Cat lady sounds…odd…for sure. However, I will note that Buster LURVES the movie Flow and will sit and actually watch it. He approaches the screen during certain parts (usually when the fish are swimming underwater) and cocks his head back and forth. I’m sorry, too, about your cousin.
JtC, the optometrist told my husband that they would likely do both eyes at once. However, I guess we won’t know for sure until the consultation.
FCM, youch on the fall. I hope the pain subsides stat.
Hippie, very good news on the plumbing front!
I need to do some laundry today, and that’s about all I have on the agenda.
Please take care of yourselves.
It is! I hope they are suitably appreciative ![]()
{{{nellie}}}. Continuing to send good thoughts.
FCM, how are you and FCD feeling this morning?
Two weeks post-procedure, I’m allowed to take a bath today!
Morning all. Dishwasher is washering, first load of laundry is on the rinse cycle and I have had my Big Bowl O’Cheerios and some carrots to finish breaking fast, so it has been a fairly constructive morning here. 30F heading to 45F and no precipitation today or tomorrow so not all that bad for the end of January. Laundry and dishes will occupy the morning, probably back to the gym for sweating in the afternoon, and slothage in the evening…at least that’s the plan.
JtC, the chess set and board are Marble (or some type of stone), so I don’t think a magnet would help. But if I manage to drop something in a really tough place, I’ll try the tape idea.
Piper, doggio is an incorrigible punster; please don’t incorrige him…
boo fae, best wishes staying awake, you young people and your stamina…
![]()
FCM, ouch, just glad it’s just a bruise and didn’t open any blood vessels.
Guess considering boo fae and FCM (second-hand) endorsements, I’ll have to try to get some A&W Diet Root Beer and see if it can break into the Pepsi Zero/Diet Pepsi monopoly.
Flipper, enjoy the movie and the company. And pets being pets…
Hippie, I hadn’t encountered that rule on single faucets, my house bathing areas are hot/cold faucets everywhere, guess it is up to the states to decide.
Crafter Man, sounds like a good morning’s workout. Hope the weather gets a little better so it’s not needed.
Lily, enjoy luxuriating in the bath.
And that’s all I have for this morning, sounds like the first load of laundry is done so need to get #2 started. Have a good Thorsday all.
Don’t do it! Could the tile surrounding the faucets just be replaced? I’ve hated every fiberglass enclosure that I’ve ever had. They’re a pain to clean and crack easily.
{{{nellie}}}
I hope that your wife and daughter appreciate your efforts, crafty.
Up (late), caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I’ve had sleep issues for the past couple of nights (took until the wee hours to fall asleep), so I slept in until 0830 this morning. Once KP is done, I’ll start laundry, then clean the bathroom.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Howdy Y’all! I thought I would make a late mornin’ post just cause. I accomplished (somewhat) the tidyin’ up of the file cabinet. More needs to be done, but future me has been assigned that task. Present me is a lazy ne’er do well.
BooFae if I stayed out/up that late I would possibly be abed most of the next day. However, there was a time…
Flipper happy bday to your sis! Enjoy dinner and the movie.
Hippie glad the plumbin’ is comin’ along. Hope the shower replacement goes smoothly.
Crafter you are a good husband and father.
Lily enjoy the bath. Don’t forget your rubber duckie.
I’s hongry, so time to forage some lunch.
