Were, unless they are zombies.
I came in here to do sump’n but I can’t remember what it is. Matter of fact what is this place? Why is it in my favorites? Who are you people?
I toured the north 40 today and when I got done I headed for da cave cause it looked stormy and I didn’t really want to go back to the orifice. About five minutes after I got to da cave we had a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig storm. It’s still rainin’ even. The temp dropped from 94 degrees to 82 in half an hour. Nice!
Burly butcher bacon cheeseburgers and fries for dindin tonight. YUM!!!
Well, one of them is alive…
Anyway, if anybody wants to read it, I posted an excerpt on my blog (www.curiouslylydean.net). If people like it, I’ll post more.
No. Under normal circumstances, it would get you demerits, but I’m feeling benevolent, so you’re safe. For now.
I just finished studio time. I trimmed 3 pieces, finished the underglaze on 3 pieces, and killed the giant flower bowl. I was putting feet on it and I pressed too hard, cracking the base. And, really, I don’t think I did a good job building it - the petals and leaves were too thick. Not a huge deal - I broke it up, dumped the pieces in a pan and added water. Once the clay rehydrates, I’ll try again. Meanwhile, I think the pieces I have will make a kiln load.
I’s hongree. I didn’t have lunch and it’s too early for supper. Why oh why is it so hard to be me??? <dramatic pose of woe and suffering>
Dindin was teh nummy! Happy full tummies and a nice slow rain fallin’. AHHHHHHH!
Dave’s brother and sister-in-law have taken me in. One or the other of them have called to check up on me everyday and I’m meeting them for dinner tomorrow night. Thank God for such wonderful people.
That’s awesome StickyBuns! They sound like truly good people.
We went to Salsa’s for an early supper, and it’s a good thing we were early - that place fills up fast. The food is good and really cheap - dinner for 2 of us including tip was under $24. It’s usually less, because I usually just drink water, but today I had lemonade, so that bumped up our total. What the heck, it’s only money!
Yay for friends, Sticky!!
And now, I’m going to assume the crochet position. I’ve made a bunch of sets of the SofTrivets and I think I’ll get some pics on line then start a thread in the Marketplace. Can’t hurt to try!
Great!
They know you made Dave happy, and that’s good enough for them.
Very cool.
Shabbot Shalom, y’all.
Does this mean TGIF?
Yes, but not in French.
You are cute and erudite, Anyrose.

The end of a very long work week is finally here. Not much going on here as mr ems is in Texas. Quesadillas for dinner and I am watching the Olympics opening ceremony and feeling homesick.
{sticky} they sound like good people.
#3 AC unit at work turned itself off today. It hit 80+ degrees Amurikin today in the store. Re-hydrating with martinis.
BBBobbio, it’s easier to leave The Mob than the MMP!
Sticky, glad Dave family is checking on you.
rosie, don’t forget the singing talent, too!
Hi, all.
I got word from Sticks about her love passing away and needed to poke my nose in.
Have I told you guys lately that I love all of you with a big mushy, sticky, goofy, squishy pile of love? That, where friends and family failed me, you guys were absolute rocks? That, when I count my blessings, the MMPers are pretty much in the top 10? 'Cause I do, you are, and you are.
I have just today finished my first month with Cool New Job. First full paycheck landed today. Funny how your bills expand to fill your income. I plan on having an apartment by the first weekend of September, and it looks like it’s going to happen. I’m very excited.
I am sad because I’ve had to give up on two friends I once counted as dear as family. The first has a habit of falling off the face of the Earth - not returning calls or emails. I weathered a few of those, but then it turned into not responding when I called her, crying for help in the middle of a crisis. Then she moved and never sent me her new address. Then, she invited a friend over on Facebook after I’d asked her several times when we could get together. So, yeah. Taking a hint.
The second friend has gone from being intellectually conservative to being a reactionary bigot. We had dinner, and when I drove her to pick up her car from the shop, she told me all about how Muslim hospitals in the US refuse care to injured and sick women because they aren’t dressed modestly. No amount of “Seriously, how do you think that would actually work?” or “Name one single Muslim hospital in the US,” persuaded her otherwise, and this is a woman who says she scoffs at the like of O’Reilly and Coulter.
It hurts. I love both these women, and my circle of friends has shrunk over the last several years. It’s harder and harder to make new friends. I don’t expect to meet anyone I can share the same depth of connection and affection that I did with them. I do have other friends, and I expect I’ll be working to strengthen our friendship as much as I can.
Welcome back, stranger!
Don’t worry 'bout the friends. Now that you have regained some independent stability (as judged by your rarity here) I imagine that some new peeps will creep into your life as well.
Me: beat to hell halfway into 2 weeks vacation with my kids. Much fun is being had. In a few hours we will head over to a local national wildlife refuge for a free children’s archery seminar, then in the evening a local minor league baseball game with fireworks afterwards.
Tell us more about how you are doing!
Good morning and happy Saturday!! I don’t know why I’m up so early, but I am so there it is…
We had a mystery solved last night. One of our yellow tangs had disappeared suddenly about 2 weeks ago - as in totally disappeared with nary a trace. We assumed it had died and the population of crabs in the tank had dispatched the carcass. Not so.
**FCD **did a water change yesterday, and decided to clean the overflows since they were getting full of algae. In this old picture, you can see the overflows against the back - the two rounded structures extending the height of the tank. There are narrow slits that allow water to flow in and to the plumbing that leads to the sump in the basement. Anyway, somehow, one tang managed to get into an overflow - it had to have jumped because the top is at least an inch above the water surface.
So when he was cleaning yesterday, **FCD **saw the goofy fish and scooped it out and returned it to the main tank. (He had looked in there when the fish first disappeared, but didn’t see it.) Tangs are bitchy fish - they don’t like others that look like them once they’ve formed their pack, or whatever tangs are collectively, and you’re always supposed to have an odd number of them, so I guess they can count. Anyway, despite having been one of the 3 original tangs, since this one had been “gone” the two others have been bullying it. And the lost one was in raggedy shape anyway - its fins and tail all look chewed up, probably from having to swim in such a confined space.
We’ll see how it fares - it could take a week for the other two to back off, so if it survives the hazing, it should be OK. As I’ve said before, who knew there was such drama in a fish tank?!?!?
Today’s laundry and studio work. I also need to empty the dishwasher and I think I’ll strip the bed. Whoever sang “Summertime, and the livin’ is easy” deserves a punch in the nose!!!
Stay cool, all!
