Telling y’all about me buying a Speedo wouldn’t oogie Swampy; it’d get him all twitterpated instead.
It’ll oogie him if/when I post a pic of my 10 lbs. of ass shoved into that 5 lb swimsuit…

Dumptrucks of chocolate? Where? I want those keys!
rigs, GOOD LUCK! Don’t listen to that crochety old spoilsport. You and I both know that you can rock this librarian gig.
FCM, my best wishes for your sweetie’s recovery.
Thanks all for the congratulations re: career fair. I’m sure it’ll all turn out well. Speaking of which, last night I officially began waiting for responses from grad schools. It’s been six weeks since Cornell got all my stuff, and the others followed shortly thereafter. Mind you, Cornell has a “if we don’t contact you by the Ides of March, you didn’t get in” policy, because they’re Cornell and they can get away with shit like that. However. If I did/will get into Cornell they should be letting me know soon. I applied to eight graduate schools. I figure I’m gonna get into at least one.
<snerk>
Hey, spatial, I’ve always wanted to see RPI’s model railroad thing. Maybe we should make that our next mini-Dopefest. We’ll have to see if Mika’s interested and if anyone else local wants to go. That’d be fun!
8?!?
I applied to 1!!
this is called suiciding in the Greek system (or it was when I was in college and not a part of the Greek system)…If it is indeed suicide for me, I will be sure to pick a flamboyant method–news at 11.
Going over details of UK trip today–some of them. We are freaking renting a FLAT!!! I am so jazzed about this. Getting our Chunnel tix reserved today.
This weekend I need to clean a room in the basement to set up #1 son’s computer desk. He got his new computer that he saved and worked for (with a wireless keyboard! I want me one of those). So, busy weekend ahead.
Who is doing MMP? I CANNOT–I am working on Monday, but I would be happy to volunteer someone else. Heh.
Oooh! That is an absolutely tremendous idea. Unfortunately they don’t open up their exhibit often. As an RPI student I can go each Wednesday evening, but that leaves you and Mika out. I’ll let you know if I hear that they’re planning another general open house. In the meanwhile, the Players will be presenting their annual Evening of Performance on February 10, 11, 17, and 18 at 8 pm, and the 12th at 2 pm. It’s only $10 for general admission, and I guarantee you (from much prior experience with the Players) that it’ll be a great show. Whaddya think?
Morning, everyone. Continuing prayers and good thoughts for Dolores and WelbyWife. Eat more chocolate, Draelin.
Today I have to do some chores, run some errands, go to work, and then I’m going out dancing tonight with Driving Husband and maybe Quasi-Daughter. It should be fun.
Since I got Matilda the KitchenAid mixer, I have used 15 pounds of flour. I calculated based on amount left of a 25 pound bag. Yeesh
Good morning all. Hope you’re all doing well.
welby, I’m sorry to hear about welbywife. I hope they can figure out what needs to be done, and soon.
Dolores, continued good wishes for the treatment.
**FCM, ** sending best wishes to you and FCD. I hope they can do something for him soon that will really work.
Spats, I hope you get accepted for the school of your choosing.
eleanor, I just know you’re going to kick ass and take names! You hang in there.
Rue, I hope your poor toesie recovers soon.
Arrgh! Children can be so trying at times! This morning on my way out the door I stopped to wish both the kids good luck in their new classes. My daughter is in one of her moods  . She replied with a rather smart-ass answer about not having any new classes. I asked her what she was talking about, because I understood she was going to AP English. She replied back in a very snotty manner and told me she had changed her mind and that she had told me this. I told her that to my recollection, the choice had been made *for * her and that was that. She then said, “I don’t know why you’re so mad about it”. I told her I wasn’t angry, but that I wanted her to be challenged and succeed in school. She is bored in her English class and she needs to be challenged. She also told me the main reason she changed her mind was that she would have had to rearrange her whole schedule and she would have been taken out of her German class.
I can understand that, I really can. But, she needs to be challenged. She’s going to hate school if she’s bored. I told her that she needs to consider that class for the fall.
I better do some work now.
lissla, I think some of the Danish gummed up my CD drive.
See this morning I was trying to copy then burn a disc on my new Mac (can too!!) and they kept getting stuck and wouldn’t eject. Please don’t send any more.
fcm, as I said in my e-mail, I’m sorry you won’t be coming down soon but fcdad’s health is the most important thing. Besides we still have to figure out how to [del]kidnap[/del] coerce a certain bear to make a road trip to Mickeyville.
Do we have a taker for next week’s MMP yet?
I hear ya on the kids, Taters.
welby --your wife was just diagnosed? Please get her into treatment–and we MMPers will be with you and Dolores all the way.
I just got off the coolest website, ever (not the coolest bb, though)–it’s the ordnance survey map of all the castles in UK! We are planning out our trip, which is coming up fast. Going to Leeds Castle and Windsor (#1 son and #2 son are into castles).
I need to be productive today, so I am cutting myself off from here.
Ciao!
welby - as bad as the treatments may be, aren’t they better than the disease? In any case I will send positive energy welbywife’s way
It’s raining buckets this morning - and windy!!! so it;s raining sideways - umbrellas are useless.
But I’ll take rain over snow any day!
Maps? I love maps. Need link, please.
Did you wash your hands first, young man??? :dubious:
oooo! sounds megacool.
when come back, bring link
Thanks for all of the kind words and thought guys. For now, send your though Dol’s way.
Right now, we’re kind of in Limbo; when I say just diagnosed, I mean about a week ago. I took the kids and myself in the same day for testing and got the results yesterday. After the blood tests, we made an appointment for a specialist in Hep C to to whatever it is he does to see how far the disease has progressed.
So right now we don’t really know what the deal is. Welbywife is scared on the one hand, but on the other hand we didn’t find out because she had any real syptoms. She’s got a bad thyroid, and some of the wacky chemistry that results from that essentially made our doctor think “Hey, there may be something deeper than a thyroid here.” So he ran some other tests, and here we are.
At this point, we figure she almost had to have gotten it when she had the blood transfusion in Russia. Or, possibly when she had a back operation in Spain, (less likely, she’s not even sure if she got blood then). So at this point she’s “had” it for close to 20 years, with no real effect. As a result, we remain positive in our thinking. We’ll look at the options, but Welbywife tends to be a “if it ain’t COMPLETELY broke, don’t fix it” type of gal. I can’t say I agree with this philosophy when it ocmes to health, but then again, I’m not the one who has to put up with the side effects. So I’ll suggest, but I won’t argue.
She has said she’ll do a liver biopsy if that’s what’s recommended. At least we can probably get a rough idea of how long she’s had the infection, and then move on from there.
Well, I guess I could do next week’s MMP. I haven’t done it in awhile.
But only if someone tells me if those Calaphon pans are lightweight aluminum.
And VBob, do you work at the Coast Guard base or in their offices down at the end of High Street?
So far today, I’ve “accidentally” disconnected three telemarketers, had to void out five credit card fraud orders, and spilled coffee all over yesterday’s invoices.
I am going to buy myself some sort of present at lunchtime. I don’t know what it will be, but I’m thinking it will be in category of either DVD Entertainment or Expensive Designer Shoes I Won’t Wear.
It’s hard keeping track of everybody, so bear with me, okay?
Best wishes to ** WelbyWife, Dolores, ** and ** FCD** on the various medicalish misadventures.
And good luck to Spats and Rigs on your endeavors.
Rue I dropped a 5 quart jug of olive oil on my right big toe last month and it was purple for a week. Just think of what you’ll be able to do at show and tell. (hope nothings broke.) BTW, just why do you guys freeze dogs? You don’t run a Vietnamese restaurant on the side, do you? Re: the dissappearing soap, you could superglue it to the sink, or get some chocolate pudding and smear on the top of the dispenser, or put up a sign that say: If you steal our dispenser, we’ll steal all your toilet paper. I’m sure some sort of accomodation can be reached.
Spats, iffen you go to see the trains, please take plenty of pictures. Some of us would like to see them.
Drae, good work!
I’m at the Integrated Support Command on Coast Guard Blvd in P-town; just off West Norfolk Road.
my friends keep inviting me up to P-Town in May (they do a thing every year). So far, I;ve graciously declined
But now that I know **you’re ** there…
Where is swampy?! I want him to come ask Bob for pictures! (I figure it’ll be better received, since he’s the one stalking Bob, not me.)
