One more thing - does anyone else get entertained by watching Scrubbing Bubbles work? Cause I sure as hell hope I’m not the only one.
Anyone?
Bueller?
Bueller?

I’ve actually never seen Scrubbing Bubbles in action. I’m sure it’s very entertaining, and I’d probably be endlessly amused by it, because I’m an easily amused person.
Dorothy, I’m not old enough to be your grandmother, if it’s any consolation. I’m also, y’know, not female. So if I were old enough to be your grandmother, I’d be very, very worried.
GT, Batman Begins is awesome. That is all. “You never did learn to mind your surroundings.”
I’ve been copying files over since yesterday afternoon. It’s taking forever. I think it would have been done by now if it hadn’t taken a break all night long, waiting for me to answer some question about the auxiliary information on one of the files. At any rate, it’s almost done now, and then I will copy it over to the new laptop, and restore some of the settings in earnest, before beginning Copy The Files Part Deux.
Oh, and all of this is in and around working on my undergraduate thesis and my philosophy paper, and attending a play in 2.5 hours. :: drowns ::
Come closer, so I can run over your toes with my wheelchair again.
I am only 27. That’s not old.
Ouch. Quasi-Daughter and another friend and I went out dancing last night to our regular goth club. The music was really good and now I’m sore from doing combination goth thrashing/bellydancing for two hours. I got to bed at three, which isn’t too bad.
Other Friend was astonished and QD and I were happy about certain songs being played. She can’t tell any of it apart. I have a finely tuned ability to tell KMFDM from Nine Inch Nails from Apoptygma Berzerk. They all sound totally different to me.
Set me aflame and cast me free.
Away, you wretched world of tethers.
Through the endless night and day
I have never wanted more…
:trots off, humming Solitary:
Dot’s 14? Dang, I was 14 once… Nixon, Vietnam…
We need a geezer smiley…
I was totally out of touch with the real world yesterday. I met my friend, one of his two sons, one of their friends, and a son’s girlfriend early in the morning, drove to get his 2nd son, and headed to the land of Notre Dame. I said earlier I am a rabid anti-ND fan, so this was going to be an odyssey for me of epic proportions.
I stand (ok sit) here today proud to say that despite hours of blue/gold/green indoctorination, that my stance has not changed. I just don’t get the mystique. It’s a school, it’s got a football team. Rah.
About mid-way through the 3rd quarter, we left the game so I could get a tour of the campus. I’ll give ND this, it’s a very nice campus. There, I’m done. There’s a million pretty college campuses, and this one’s in Indiana, automatically making it Nothing Special.
There’s a grotto to the Virgin. I took this picture there by the statue of Dr. Tom Dooley. No apparent virgins, so we continued on.
The school is famous for their golden dome. Here it is from the back, featuring Jesus’ buttocks
After the game we went up the road to a pizza place called Bruno’s. I can honestly call this the **Best Pizza Mr Bus Guy Has Ever Eaten - Indiana category.
**
I recommend the Meat Special. Every kind of meat possible to cram on a pizza. I do not recomment the 2-hour drive immediately following. Nap Time.
But, while at Bruno’s waiting for the food to arrive, all of us at the table had some fun tossing straw wrappers at my friend’s son, who chose that moment to nap. His girlfriend won the prize by managing to stick one in his ear while he slept. Hilarity ensued.
Later, the wife and child met us all at my friends house for more food and drink.
He has five kids. Here is one of his sons and his daughter who is the same age as my daughter. I like that picture of her, it features her phone, her camera and a Smirnoff. It’s so Erin.
Later, my friend fell asleep, I found a coupon for free bowling , dropped it on him and took a final picture.
Today, as soon as I close this, it’s time to do the homework, Part Uno from my therapy, followed by, I believe taking a whack at some metal thingees under the plastic thingee on my mower (Thanks Rue!). If that doesn’t work, I’ll borrow the neighbors mower and finish the lawn. he borrowed mine last week under similar circumstances, so we’ll be even-steven!
After that, probably a quick workout (the bike isn’t back from it’s spring overhaul yet), then a stop to find some flesh to singe on the grill for dinner, a little light housekeeping, make dinner and relax for the night.
Oh - some bad news came yesterday. I got a call from one of my supervisors that one of our drivers passed away yesterday. Dick had been out on a medical leave, was in his mid-70’s. I believe it was a heart attack, but I’ll know more in the morning.
Sorry to end on a bummer, everyone have a nice day anyway.
mika, that MMP is going to be up by 5 am, right? Eastern time?
Yeah right.
Oh yeah. college students don’t clean.
Scrubbing Bubbles are really cool. You spray them on whatever, and they really attack it, going to town on it. Scrub scrub! And suddenly you have white porcelain.
Back from church and art museum. It’s sunny out so I’m going to work on the bed in front and then hopefully have time to mow. Lilac in back is blooming. Pretty. My lawn in front looks like it’s been snowed on because lots of crabapple petals fell last night when it rained.
Just had lunch. Off to ingest an antihistamine and change into gardening stuff…

I’m next “15 is old” SHEESH! Just wait a few years, Dorothy, when the first digit changes. Heck, physiologically, I’m old enough to be your grandmother!!
Oh, and all that drama? (heh heh heh) You get two more years of it.
But then you graduate, and things get better. Really.
I am (as I mentioned in another thread) currently eating a toasted croissant with homemade lemon curd on it. Yum…
I want to go home. Now.
I’m sure it’ll pass, though.
It better.
It’s a lovely Sunday afternoon. I went to a fun party yesterday. My boss is leaving to go to med school, so we were throwing a party for her. She’s really the best; I am going to miss her as my boss, but am definitely going to keep in touch.
Other than that, I have pizza dough rising on the window frame, peppers roasting, and am trying to decide whether to crochet or read a book. Yes, I know, my life is so tough.
And I hate to admit it, but I am also old enough to be Dorothy’s mother.
Oh, and Taters? What days are you going to be around? I’d love to be able to meet you & FCM for dinner, if possible.
Susan
I have learned that it is hard to be suave, couth and sophisticated while eating ribs. The dang things are good, but there ain’t nuttin’ cultured about 'em! You know those wet wipe thingies you can buy in the pop up containers, the ones sold for the main purpose of wiping baby butts? They are a great thing to have on hand while eating ribs. (Hee! I typoed rigs. We won’t go there!) Those and lots of great big paper napkins. There you have today’s culinary tips for rib eating.
Anywho, the dinner went well. A good time was had by all. Ribs were eaten. Champagne was drunk. The birthday boy was presented with presents. Cheesecake was eaten. Skinny dipping in the pool occured. Not by me, of course, cause I knew better than to jump into the pool after the sun went down. I knew that the water temp was app. 65 degrees. I probably should have mentioned that to the two skinny dippers, shouldn’t I have?
Well, what the heck did they expect! It’s still just April even here in the sunny deep south. Plus, it rained for about two hours early Saturday morning, thus ensuring the pool water would be on the coolish side.
The water temp was a nice balmy 75 degrees this afternoon when I got in it. A little cool but it felt sooooo good! By next Saturday it should be wonderful. Ahhh, pool season! YEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
Oh, and I just had a really good piece of leftover cheesecake with strawberry topping. MMMMMMMMMMM…
Oh, one final thing, I’m cooking some field peas and butterbeans with okra right now. They’re for supper tomorrow. YUMMMMMMM!

Maybe you won’t go there. <SNERK>
Last Holiday:
Festival of Lights
Remember Lord Ram from the previous festival? Well, Diwali marks the day of his triumphant return to Ayodhya, and it is celebrated right after Dussehra. In North India it marks the beginning of our new calendar.
We light fireworks, deepas, and light up the city so the Goddess of Wealth will find her way into our homes.
The roofs are flat in India (no snow) so they light the whole length of the rooftop with the deepas.
Flowers are sold in vast quantities.
Sweets of all kinds are sold. We say at a holiday, “Munh meeta karo”, lit., “sweeten your mouth”.
it’s like Christmas here. Gifts and cards are exchanged (tho not wrapped) and everyone is celebrating. It’s the most fun festival to ever take part in.
And of course. WE DANCE LIKE MAD PEOPLE!!
Thank you folks! That’s the end of my week-long instructional. See you tomorrow!
Mika that sounds like so much fun! Again, thank you for all your info on Indian culture and holidays this week. Ya know, it makes me realize, heretic Episcopalian that I am, that there is more than one path to God as each of us may perceive God to be. I’d be right there dancing like a mad bear!
The holiday stuff has been quite entertaining and informative; I’ve enjoyed it too.
Much better now. Talked to parents. Also had something to eat and went for a walk. Head clear.
