MMP - Springtime is for Lovers

Admit it, Spats, you’re just saying that to get someone to take you out to dinner! :stuck_out_tongue:

I can’t win. Today is Mother’s Day; tomorrow is my anniversary, 19 years of [del]hell[/del] wedded bliss. This is going to be very painful to my wallet.

Rats, you caught me. I admit it. :o

Happy Mumsy’s Day all you MMP mumsies!!!

Making breakfast, hitting the gym, then we all have a wedding to go to before the Kid goes off to work. She works today so all the full-timer/moms get the day off.

We did MD celebratory things yesterday, knowing we couldn’t have much time today.

Ok…bacon’s cooking, see y’all later!

Huh. I may have accidentally acquired another Husband. One of the senseis in Mr. Lissar’s MA orginization always flirts outrageously with me. Actually, he flirts with all the girls, but he seems to target me. They were all at a restaurant after class yesterday, and Mr. Lissar ended up explaining the Multiple Husband system to everyone there.

Sensei frowned, looked thoughtful, and asked which one he was.

Mr. Lissar christened him Harmless Husband, since there’s a strong mutual understanding that he doesn’t mean any of his really startling hitting-on and stuff. He wasn’t thrilled, but has aquiesced. So this is nine, I think. And in spite of all the Husband, I don’t yet have children.

Happy Mothers Day!

Good morning everyone!

[Happy Mothers Day to all those who are mothers or have the role of mothers

I slept way late this morning. It’s ten minutes of nine fer crissakes! I went to bed around midnight, but for some dorky reason the hubby had his alarm set for 3:30 am. It kept going off and I couldn’t figure out how to turn it off! So, I didn’t get much real rest. Finally, he turned the alarm off! He got up at 7:00, but I told him I wanted to sleep just a little more. Huh, the “little more” turned into two and one half hours! :o

**FCM, ** I’m glad the hubby made it home safe!

By the way, the ashtry on my Explorer was nearly full, so I guess that was another reason to trade it in.

Well, I need to suck down my coffee and hop in the shower. We have to run back down to the dealership because I mistakenly left my garage door opener in the old rig. :smack:

Happy Day to all of the maternal sort.
I got a very nice art project from #2 son-it says “LOVE” in different colors.

And I got 3 nice cards from my kids and one from my husband.

Am off to Home Depot to [del]lynch[/del]track down Athena. She forgot to ask me about wall base aka toe kick strips. Argh. BUT-the floor is ordered, and my backsplash tile is in process. Tuesday, I order the countertops.

FCM -upon reading your Lowe’s story, I got to wondering if perhaps Athena moonlights in the garden section of your Lowe’s…

Then I get to rip out more countertops (last one) and one more wall cabinet. Is tomorrow a good day to work? No, of course not–so I have to.

It’s damned cold here for Mama’s Day. Hope it’s nice where you all are.

Thanks, traveler! It was a good trip, although I gotta admit the SO’s SIL seems to be turning into one of those pregnant women. You know, the ones who think the world revolves around them. O, boy I can see this will be a fun trip.

On the other hand, the boys - my SO and her husband - are talking about more trips in the future, car trips, with all four of us. I’m like “don’t you guys know, this is it for a while? She’s caught pregnant! Now your life is about the baby, and methinks she’s the mommy isn’t going to want to sit around in the car for hours!” Anyway, it needs to be square with her first. We’re not the ones making a new life (thank all the gods they took all the pressure off us.) Also, they want to take trips right after the baby is born with us. Yeah, right. No way in hell am I traveling anywhere with a newborn baby or actually anytime before the thing can talk. I’ve traveled with new babies before and regret it to this day.

Other than that, I got some new plants - broccoli and celery plants. Should be fun. Also I managed to get nine 1/2 yards of a beautiful green silk for fairly cheap. I didn’t have time to really look at the merchandise, though, but I should be able to make a sari out of this, provided I can find an appropriate color for the blouse & petticoat.

We also came back with a ton of food! And some other cute things…like a basket full of stuffed cloth elephants. Bright red. Really adorable.

Oh, and I think the SIL was a little miffed that we didn’t get her a mother’s day card. But in my culture I’ve always been taught that it’s bad luck, not to mention, you just don’t do it. She’s not a mother yet, she will be this time next year, and we’ll celebrate then, right? Anyway, I just think it’s not auspicious to do that.

Happy Mother’s Day to not only real mothers but to mothers of their dogs, cats, rodents, reptiles, birds, boyfriends/husbands (what? they’re kids, too!) and anyone else who has any sort of motherly feeling! Happy Sunday to everyone else!

Well, I was hoping if I ever met you, I could have French Fries.

:d&r:

French fries!!! So now you want to slice me up? :stuck_out_tongue:

Okay, dinner reservations have been made, the mom and MIL are coming over around three and then we’ll head off to an early dinner. The hubby waited until the last minute to make reservations, so we had to take what we could get.

We’ve already ran down to the dealership (well, we drove), and gave them a check for some money and a current copy of our auto insurance card. So, officially we’re done with them and starting next month I get make payments. Oh joy! The payments are actually reasonable for what we’ve purchased, so I can’t complain.

The sun is shining and it’s beautiful here. Later, I need to run down to the store and buy some posies and a card for each of the moms. I’m not getting anything for Mother’s Day. Really, I just got a new car and either today or tomorrow I’m getting a new washer and dryer. I don’t want or expect anything more.

Dang - I lost my post… I’ll try again.

We’re back from dinner - drove home thru a thunderstorm. One load of laundry in the dryer - the rest is folded and away.

My kid called earlier, and I guess I need to call my mom.

That’s the Reader’s Digest version of my lost post. And so ends my weekend - where did it go???

Happy Mother’s Day to anyone who thinks they should be wished it! Glad the trip has gone pretty well, Mika. Sounds like BIL and SIL are going to be in for a bit of a surprise…

Glad **FCD ** is home safe.

I think I’m glad I nearly never talk to the staff at Lowe’s and Home Depot. (Although, to be fair, I’ve had pretty good experiences at both places when I’ve needed help or information.)

Ya know…this is probably the only place where someone can say “I may have accidentally acquired another Husband” and 1) have it make perfect sense, and, 2) at the same time, make you giggle.

I’ve been all over the place today. Planted stuff at church. It was sprinkling, so we rapidly moved a few plants around and then planted a few new items we’d bought. Still have some space for annuals, so we’re going to do a bit more Memorial Day weekend.

Came home and did some speed clean-up. Emptied dishwasher, tidied up the kitchen a bit, had a lovely nacho salad, did a couple loads of laundry. Then it was off to Target where I stocked up on laundry stuff and a few miscellaneous items (has the cover charge gone up? Seems I went away with a higher bill than usual). Took something back to Staples, stopped by the grocery store for a couple of forgotten items, ran to Garden Ridge and Lowe’s, and am now back to maybe put a couple of plants in containers, have dinner and call Mom (not necessarily in that order). Is this what it feels like to be FCM or Lissla?

Off I go again…

GT

Important question: Who’s starting the MMP tomorrow??? (We speculated, but don’t know that we got a confirmation…)

GT

The Target cover charge is tied to the Fed. If the Fed raises interest rates, then…

I have been gardening all afternoon! It feels so good. Perfect weather for it–cool in the shade and only warm if you’re moving around. I bought a few annuals and a spruce(on sale) at Home Depot. Athena was not there, but I got my question answered. I forgot to buy scaviola, though. Now I’ll have to go back one more time later this week.

We ordered Chinese and ate it out on the deck. A nice Mother’s Day. My fortune cookie was messed up! The middle part of the message was just not there. It said something like, “Have min[then blank] with confidence”. Oh, well, I tend to be messed up and confused in bed, anyways…
I cannot do MMP tomorrow, since I am working. I can’t even read it until Tuesday(I come home so tired that I bathe and go straight to bed).

I nominate Bus Guy. Any substitute will do, though. On a Monday, we aren’t picky!

Ooo! I second Bus Guy. MBG, you’re on!

hi gang
Happy (end of) Mothers Day
Feeling oogy today so I hibernated, then woke up to a Monk marathon
Now I’m going to some PR work for the chorus, then watch the Sopranos, and hopefully I will be asleep well before midnight. I can’t go thru another week of 2 hours sleep a night.

I think MBG would be perfect for the job… Hopefully he’ll see this.

Hope you’re feeling better, rosie. Getting more than 2 hours of sleep does make a difference doesn’t it?

I’ve had a nutritious dinner of Cheerios, banana and dried blueberries. Oh, and some tea. Wasn’t very hungry and I haven’t had Cheerios in a really long time. Kept forgetting to buy them. You’d think I’d have remembered one of the 4 bazillion times I was at Target (I like the Fed theory, by the way, rigs). Anyhoo, now that I’ve got them in the house again, they sound like a good idea for just about any meal.

Did more laundry. Planted the three window boxes that are going to go in the ugly spot along the driveway fence. Called Mom (I’m sure she say’s hi). Changed into jammies. Am about to fold laundry and finish watching a movie (A Lot Like Love, which is one of my current favorites).

Back to that nice laundry…

I see!

I’ll post by 6 am CTD time…

Humbly submitting…

Nope.

Sorry.

Aw, you can do next week’s Bus Guy.
