About to leave for work. Sadness for everyone, not just me, I’m sure.
Oh, and yesterday, I went to P.F. Chang’s, but I don’t remember my fortune. So how about this:
I don’t remember my fortune
Does that work?
(We did play the “in bed” game, of course, and my fortune lost… someone else got
You will try many new things.)
Mr. Lissar is a foot taller than me. That’s the real height difference.
Off to work!
Congrats taxi and Keith!!
FCM, awesome kitty! I love Abbys, very cool cats. Ooh, Murray. I like that, it’s more original than my aunt, who named her little girl Abby
Seconded.
I prefer the French Vanilla CoolWhip[sup]tm[/sup] myself.
In honor of this momentous occasion I am going to trot out my sig line.
Still catching up. We don’t seem to have had crises at work while I was gone (the person I left in charge assured me of this this morning when I called in) and my boss didn’t call me back to tell me otherwise, so I decided to take today and tomorrow off to catch up on life at home.
One of the things I discovered in cruising for software for the new iBook (I was looking for something project manage-y) was Getting Things Done which I then happened to run across at Borders and figured I was meant to buy. I’m about 1/2-way through it and am trying to use it to get control of everything. Seems to be pretty sound and not terribly gimmicky - one of those books that packages common sense so that you’ll remember to apply it. Spent a fair amount of time today trying to use it.
Also just tried to get back into this time zone; got sleepy in the middle of the day and took a 20-minute nap, but I’m really trying to pretend I’m operating on Eastern Time.
Checked in with the friends I visited; they were cleaning house today. The kids both complained at me about it (like I can help from across the ocean!).
Love the pottery, FCM. I really like the covered one, even if it’s not what you meant to create. Kitty is cute too. (Did I mention that, I can’t remember?).
Glad there are utilities Drae. Isn’t it exciting to get your own home?
Hope you’re feeling better, Rue.
I’m sure there’s more, but I’m getting tired…
GT
Swampy, he owns a craftsman cottage!!! Hell, I’ll marry him for to get my hands on one of 'em. Give me a sec to go buy some beer and cockies as bait. Tell him I live within driving distance of Motawi Tileworks and does he like me, check yes or no, 'kay?
Yep Lissla, step away from the wedding dress sewing. We think it’s that last dress pushed Grammie over the edge. Plus, you’re not too short for your hubby. When you slow dance he can rest his chin on your head perfectly.
You know, from the descriptions and pictures of lil’ smokies, I’m a gonna put them in along with baloot and haggis. Cheese inside? Sausage made of what exactly and th’ heck is that ‘sauce’? More for you that likes 'em!
*Fascinating * news, yow WOW! Yesterday I didn’t even know the name of a certain kind of coffee mug shape, much less the pattern name, but now I do. Mugs that go out, then in, then out again are coupe-shaped and when they’re tall like that in Franciscanware they’re called Grandmugs. The pattern I needed is Eclipse, but the same thing is technically available in at least six of their more than three hundred patterns. Also, ceramic replacement services and sellers have as a group, the worst, most difficult to navigate sites I’ve seen. And they shouldn’t list grandmugs when they don’t have any to sell, hmph.
During my search I also learned that Harvard’s football coach was falsely accused of strangling a bulldog in the locker room before the big Harvard/Yale game of 190-something. Disturbing for so many reasons.
What a great idea swampy!! I don’t think it’s too late in the year to add some bonus scoring into the mix (hah). Maybe a splasher can be worth a point. A little extra reward for a little extra effort!

And to reply to the previous post predicting that I’d be in rehab for laxative addiction, I doubt that’ll happen. Solely based on the reason that anything liquid doesn’t get scored
Will keep you all updated on the scoreboard, as requested
OK…How is it that the MMP is the last thread on page one even this early in the morning? Where are our late-(for US Eastern Time)night posters?
No link, Ashes? You’re going to make me experience the horror of those Web sites in an unguided tour, aren’t you? (But glad you found the mugs.) Seems to me Web sites list things they don’t have with appalling frequency.
Buddy, you may replace swampy as the King of TMI if you keep us updated. (I know I’m going to regret saying this…)
I’m up early in the hopes of getting lots done today. Starting with pancakes (this is your fault, swampy!!!)
GT
What? Still no one up? I’ve had my pancakes (and grapefruit so that I get back into healthy-eating mode) and coffee, documented my list of stuff that I need to worry about (so far) that I’d scribbled on a piece of notebook paper, and am considering what I need to do next. Also, went to look for a 20 questions toy that friends got their kid for Christmas. Found an interview with the creator and, of course, a link to the company’s Web site. Haven’t been to any of the other games, but 20 questions seems fun enough (and more fun than the actual gadget, I think). You can thank me later.
Off to launder stuff and drop things in the mail. (Cards, really.)
GT
gt the pancakes are greeb’s fault not mine. I merely pointed the way to the food porn thread. Ashes[sup]2[/sup], I got no real grieveance with a Craftsman style cottage per se, it’s just that ACBG’s is in a neighborhood that’s really gone downhill and I’d have no desire to take up permanent residence there. Not that we’re anywhere nears talking about doing any of this. I kinda like spending a couple of nights a week “in town” as his house is real close to my office. Bud glad I could help out. That’s me. Always willing to do what I can to make things better.
Hey, gt, I’m here now. Normally, well, normal for a not-going-to-work-day, I’d have checked in hours ago, but a certain cat decided she needed attention about 1 this morning when I got up to pee. She didn’t leave me alone till nearly 3, and the alarm went off as usual at 4:45. I took the dog out, got FCD on his merry way back to work, then crawled back into bed myself. Round about 7, I decided to shower.
I’ve had my generic cheerios and our house guest is feeding her baby as I type this. I’ve seen the wedding pics and held the baby myself, but I still can’t wrap my mind around my daughter’s middle school friend being a mom. The baby is a cutie, tho, and very good natured. At not-quite-4-months, she sleeps thru the night, and this morning while mom was making her breakfast, she was all happy and cooing and stuff. I predicted that all this good nature would wear off by her teenage years and that they’d be bailing her out of prison by then.
Don’t ya just love when people say stuff like that??
I’m not entirely sure what’s in store for today, besides prepping food for my mom’s birthday tomorrow. Oh, and laundry tonight, so my kid doesn’t have to fly home with a bag full of dirties. We may go to see Narnia this afternoon. But this is the end of my week off. Back to the grind on Monday, so someone else needs to launch the next MMP.
Who’s up to the challenge??
::Waves hand wildly:: I’ll do it!!! I’ll do it!!! I was just coming in to volunteer to start next Monday, since I wrote the beginnings of a post while sitting in the Paris airport. (Doesn’t that sound sophisticated?). Since I’m still on an early schedule due to the time change, I don’t think I’ll have a problem posting before leaving for work.
Baby sounds nice - we had a couple of babies at Christmas dinner and both were from the “I’m a happy baby” school of thought. Unlike the one who was on our plane from NY to Columbus, who cried THE.WHOLE.FLIGHT. Fortunately, I wasn’t right near it, though it was a small enough plane that I could clearly hear her/him. Sounded miserable, though, poor thing.
GT
And I got lost in a little daydream of you and Draelin behind the library. Different strokes, I guess.
Running a bar tab (instead of paying for your drinks as each is served to you) isn’t good when you look at the receipt the next morning and see that you drank 18 beers.
Mandy the Martian is trying to figure out who shut one of her cupboardy things in her cubicle. She’s really upset about it, too. Makes me wish I had done it.
And I’ll step up for Monday if’n it’s needed.
ACBG and I are going to a big todo of a wedding followed by a lavish reception tomorrow night. I just know there’ll be stuff for a MMP outta this, so I volunteer to crank it up Monday. All the wimmens will be after us to dance cause their husbands won’t, so it does have fun potential. I’m also attending an Epiphany party Sunday evening. Drinking and partying Episcopalians might or might not be fun to read all about, but who knows?
FCM what kind of menu did you ever decide upon for the big doin’s for mom?
On review, I see that you got it already, gt.
I saw my nine-month-old neice for the first time since April this weekend, and she, happily, is also from that school. She spent the entire night on my lap, chewing on my necklace. Not bad for an aunt she certainly doesn’t remember–not only was she a month old the only other time I saw her, she was asleep the whole damn time.
So, the cable company is all set, but there may be a scheduling problem. The only time they can put me down for is 11-2 on Friday. Which is the same time the movers will be packing up all my crap in the current apartment. I’m trying to get a friend to come sit with the movers while I wait for the cable guy, but I’m running out of friends–of the four friends I have who don’t work Fridays, every single one of them is going to Amsterdam next weekend. Without me.
And O Og, I just want to move and get it over with already.
Sean (or may I call you Facty ?)–now see here. I have girl bits and no facial hair that is easily sighted from a polite distance. Um–the strap on thing was my evil twin coming out in me–never seen one in my life (and I don’t need to start now, thankyouverymuchshesaidhastily).
Git yer own daydream, pardner. That’s all I’m sayin’.
Cannot be here most of today or weekend-MUST STUDY.
It is freaking hard to study with a seven year old in the house and a husband out of town. Grrrrr.
's’okay, though–I most likely will not pass this evil spawn of Satan test anyways.
Anyone here know what a mulct is? or an amercetem? Yeah, well, me neither. Dammit, I HAVE the largest of vocabulary of anyone I know (in RL, Dope doesn’t count)–and I don’t know WTF these words are…
Would YOU say that biennial means the same thing as ephemeral? NO, BECAUSE IT DOESN’T.
Not happy here in Chicagoland.
Just wanted to stop by and mention that I now have web access from work…
Near as I can figure, we’ll be having:
Swedish meatballs
Baked chicken
Pork loin
Broccoli-rice casserole
Greek salad
Some other vegetable matter
Taters (N.O.T.)
Carrot cake
Beer
Soda
Some other stuff
I don’t know if I’ll be able to do the cheese straws, but if I don’t make them for this party, I will try them for another.
