(MMP)Triple step, triple step . .

Aw, geez - I didn’t need to hear this. I was planning to get me a new sweater or two this weekend, since the couple I have are pilly and old and ugh. But you shan’t deter me. After my ceramics class, we’re going to Annapolis Mall since we’ll already be in Annapolis. And I’m gonna find me a couple of sweaters, dagnabbit!

Perhaps if a magic sweater could fend off the sneezers, snifflers, snorkers and coughers on the train. I’m in a metal tube with recycled air and all of those germs for 50 minutes each way, twice a day. That can’t be a good thing.

ems I’m sure you’ve explained it before, but why exactly are you in Wyoming? I’m not asking because I’m looking for a reason to throw you out, it’s just that you seem so unprepared and maybe a llittle unhappy at being there.

That reminds me- I need a new sweater. And I need to eat lunch before work.

I’m playing St. Patrick’s Breastplate right now to get the damn Christmas music from yesterday at the mall out of my head. I hate Christmas music. In a few minutes I’ll play some System of a Down or something. If I never hear Santa Baby again it’ll be too soon.

The answer: Silk long underwear. LLBean sells it, and it’s the best stuff in the world. Surprisingly warm for being just a thin layer of fabric. It layers great under sweaters and things and makes ALL the difference.

And yeah, I think anyone with long hair in a cold climate has frozen it at some point. (And that does include me.) :smack:

I think this is an excellent idea. I was going to say what Puggy said. I recommend not mentioning it much again other than “Yes, I found something floor-length and black to wear.” Just make it act like it’s one piece (I was thinking maybe some type of sash could mask the separateness…) and I’m sure it’ll be acceptable. Tell Other Quasi-Daughter we said so. (But not before the day of the wedding…).

I’m home early to run some errands before it snows and then go to the eye doctor.

Off to the library.

Sean I am here for work gotta love the oil & gas industry!

As for being unprepared nah this is my third winter here - I just hate being cold! This recent cold snap is the worst since 1960 and has fubarred everything around here. The district manager sent home all none essential personnel yesterday because the boiler wasn’t working to well. I pissed off a Company man this morning by telling him that my guys would not be rigging up until it warmed up as I did not want them with hypothermia or exposure or frostbite. Trucks won’t start - I passed 4 pickups abandoned at the road side on the way to work. Gelled fuel & water in your tank is a bitch in this weather!

taxi those silk thermals were the first purchase I made when I came here and was in the field running jobs. Best investment EVER!

Hey! We were just about to drop to the second page and it’s only Wednesday! Where’s everybody at?

My lunch did not agree with me. My tummy is giving me fits, which is making it very difficult to concentrate on work.

I have nothing exciting to share. We’re being threatened with nasty weather overnight, and I’m hoping it’s bad enough that they close the base. Then I get a day off. We shall see…

Other than that, we’ve got a fire going and I’ve got my 3rd load of laundry in the washer.

Oh, and we’re starting to look for a cat. FCD really misses having a cat, and he stopped at the shelter on his way home. We may go back tomorrow. And yes, if we get a new kitty, we will take pictures.

But that’s all I’ve got.

<snerk>!

It’s a VIA C3 at 750 Mhz.

Back from the eye doctor. I’m still really nearsighted. Except for that, my eyes are miraculously healthy.

Eyes are still way dilated, but I can see the screen pretty well from a bit farther away than usual. (Any typos I don’t catch are due to overlarge pupils, of course.)

They’ve been telling us it’s going to snow for days now. They were right. It started snowing about two hours ago and it’s been coming down steadily. We’ve got an inch already and it looks like it’s going to keep going. I’m sure I’ll still have to work in the morning - we NEVER close - but at least I don’t work very far away and take the bus to work…

Trying to figure out what to do with the evening. I’m watching Meet the Fockers but want to get some stuff done at the same time. I’m thinking folding laundry might be on the agenda.

I’m thinking of sewing the two pieces together somehow so she can’t complain.

Sigh.

The main excitement today has been rewatching Bushwhacked, the third episode of Firefly. Now I think there are cannibals out to get me. Work was okay but there are scary numbers of boxes waiting to be unpacked. Got through four or five, which is pretty good, but there were still maybe thirty or forty left. Yeesh. Christmas.

gardentraveler, you may indeed refer to me as Spatial, or Rift, or Spatial Rift, or SR47, or 47, or Spatman, or Spattie … (yes I have been called all of those at one point, although not all of them were on the SDMB) … just as long as you don’t call me Late for Dinner. Actually, that would be rather amusing as a Dopername.

My eyes are extremely nearsighted as well. Sitting two feet from my laptop screen, I can’t see that there are words on it without my glasses, let alone being able to read them. That goes for the huge yellow “THE STRAIGHT DOPE” too.

I, for one, welcome our impending white flakey overlords. A massive snowfall would be the icing on the cake that is the last day of classes tomorrow. SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW!

And note I didn’t say a snow day. I don’t want a snow day, I want to savor the last moments of my classes. Besides, RPI knows how to deal with a foot or two of snow, unlike some places I won’t mention.

Sounds like we have about the same brand of nearsightedness. Two feet away, I see smudgy gray lines where the posts are. That bright yellow banner at the top is three blobs of yellow.

Good to hear you’re surviving the end of classes so far.

Not really much snow hear this mroning. I guess it decided to slow down after all. There aren’t even that many school closings today. Mostly delays.

I got up early and had a real breakfast. Now I need to go get ready for work… Happy Friday Morning, everyone!

What a mess out there! When I let the dog out 2 hours ago, it was raining on top of a new little coat of snow. I crawled back into bed, and just woke up again - the rain has stopped, but it’s gray and very nasty looking. Our driveway and front walk look like they’re coated in at least half an inch of slushy, icy nastiness. My work is 2 hour delay, liberal leave in effect. I’m taking advantage of the liberal leave and staying home, since my commute is mostly along 2 hilly, curvy country roads which I’m sure are probably slippery and stuff.

Oh yeah, and today is my 22nd anniversary! Wonder if the roads will be clear enough so we can go out and celebrate tonight?

I spent a winter living on Lake Saratoga. I was in training for the Navy over in Ballston Spa, at KAPL. Lots of snow that winter. I remember one night after work (we were on a rotating shift schedule, so sometimes we get out at 6 o’clock AM, 8 o’clock at night, or midnight) we had a foot or so of snow. We had a snowball fight and also had Roman Candles for artillery back-up. Lots of fun.

ems I guess I just misread your posts. Glad it’s not hell up there for you.

The new Trader Joe’s in Newport News opens today.

VunderWife and I will be there when the doors open tomorrow just to see what all the fuss is about.

Thank You. Carry on.

You know, I pull myself dutifully from my sickbed in order to bring the benefits of public welfare to the residents of Lancaster County. I spend 1/2 digging my car out. I drive to the office. And I find out, once there, we have a two-hour delay!

Dammit! I could’ve slept an extra two hours!
