And I’m actually feeling much better now, so no, I’m not killing myself for work.

At least I have more time than usual. Right know I’m thinking of a 20,000 km-wide depleted uranium umbrella, but I may have to adjust the plan somewhat since I don’t think there’s anywhere near that much DU on the planet.
Maybe a big rocket with railguns on it, because railguns are cool.
taters, methinks you mislayed a day sommers. The good news is it’s FRIDAY!!!
Gloomy and rainy but the no snow signs are working well again this year.
The thought of HAVING to wear silk long undies just squicks me out. I’m verging on breaking out in hives.
ems, having endured one WY winter, I can only say you have my condolences. Double
fcm, since swampy couldn’t be here…ahem:
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPYYYYYYY
ANNIVSARY!
RPI actually closed once during my senior year for 2 1/2 days! Monday night classes were cancelled, and then classes didn’t resume until Thursday. Major blizzard. It was awesome. There’s really no place better to be than college when a big snow storm hits.
I really need to talk to the Big Boss about taking off the week between Christmas and New Year’s. But I really really don’t want to do that. Every time I talk to him, he just seems like he wants to get away as quickly as possible. I shower every day and brush my teeth multiple times a day! Why does he always avoid me like the plague??
I’m touched. Truly. And a little afraid…
Everybody in Houston is freaking because of the icy winter conditions. It’s 34 degrees. I think we might have had freezing temps overnight.
But I won’t complain one little bit. How do y’all stand those kinds of temperatures?! Brrrr!
Happy anniversary, FCM!
Glad you’re feeling better, jj.
Checking in to vote YES on cold weather. I loves me winter, I tells ya.
I can always get warm(and there are so many fun ways to do so!)–but I can’t get cool w/o air conditioning. I HATE being sweaty and the car feeling like an oven and the humidity making me look like Buckwheat in a wind tunnel.
Nasty hot sun…but the ice, that’s my precious. Yes, snow and cold is precious to me…
(help-I’m channelling Gollum today!)
I am off to the county court house to correct my son’s birth certificate. Somehow (even thru Kindergarten registration) it escaped us that they have the wrong date on his birth certificate . Fun times lie ahead for this woman!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY FCM AND FCD!
Yes, I guess I did lose a day in there somewhere. I’m just awfully tired, I guess. Fortunately, we’re not dealing with snow and ice like some of you. It’s just cold and dry here.
I have a two hour VTC (during my lunch of course ) and right after that another meeting. Bleah! I’m glad it’s Friday.
I have car issues. My check engine light came on just as I got to the top of the exit ramp. Now, it could be something as simple as my air filter needs changing (I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hope), or it could be something bad. After work I’ll check my oil level, and stop and buy an air filter. The rig is sitting at 99,550 miles. I cannot afford another vehicle right now, I just can’t. I was really hoping things would hold out until spring at least.
I better do some work now.
22 years is a pretty good run. Congratulations to the FairyChatCouple!
As the rest of you sit in cold temperatures, I wore a turtleneck to work. And then I checked today’s forecast. High of 71. Oh well, I mostly wore the turtleneck because it’s cold IN THE OFFICE where I’ll be today. If I could hang out outside today, then it wouldn’t have been a smart choice.
Darn this “working for a living” thing.
Only one person in the entire world is going to understand this, and he doesn’t post here. I’ll see if you guys can logic it out.

You accidently shot somebody with a bow and arrow??
You had oral sex with a walrus?
Taters - the Check Engine light could be for as something as trivial as the gas cap not being screwed on tightly. Or at that mileage, it could just be that it’s programmed to say “Bring me in for a checkup”
Do all the appropriate maintenance - when’s the last time you looked at things like the PCV valve and distributor? Not to mention oxygen sensors, transmission fluid / gear oil change, possibly even a brake fluid change. There’s usually a whole pile of things that need attention or replacement at 100,000 miles.
Man, I should have taken auto shop in high school instead of ceramics. Then I might actually have a clue what you just said.
Good day, all, and happy anniversary to the FairyChats as well as … thinking oh … get well vibes for jayjay and I, too, think that donkeybear had relations with a walrus. Coo coo ca choo.
I had at least eight inches of snow this morning, which enabled me to sleep three extra hours because the Powers that Be are just happy I came in at all today. Today is payday, and tonight is present shopping. I have a plan of attack. Immediately after work, I go to Toys R Us. There I shall procure an EZ Bake Oven (for my best friend) and something fun for my niece and nephew. And maybe other toys for other friends. We dig toys. Then it’s off to Barnes & Noble, because I am of the opinion that I read and others should too, so I buy people books for Christmas. After that, a stop at Borders, just for kicks and to see if they have anything I didn’t already get at B&N (and the Harry Potter Scene-It game, if I can’t get it at the toy store), and finally Best Buy … and then, I might, just might go to Target if I have any money left.
Note to self–buy wrapping paper.
What time does it open?
Ooh-what’s the HP scene it game?
I was a bright thing and CALLED Springfield IL to find out about the birth certificate.
Thank God I didn’t wander down to the County courthouse (and stand inline for hours etc)–only Springfield can help me.
Just finished a lovely letter explaining my dilemma, enclosed my “proof” in the guise of the Birth Certificate Worksheet from the hospital and a check. Sent it off to Springfield today! Soooo glad I didn’t get off my butt and brave the snowy cold.
Update(for those who care): found both the jeans and the patches in the same day and applied one to the other. I am a domestic goddess, I tell ya!
I need to go do some exercise type thing or other. I am turning into lard for the holidays…
Also need to do a gift reckoning: that entails dumping all purchased items onto my bed to see who is “done” and who is the step child this year. (no worries, I fill out the “step” child’s haul). Also, I have nothing for husband (what does one get for a soon to be ex?) and inlaws (who don’t know they’re soon to be ex-inlaws?). And that leaves my impossible to buy for parents.
I think they’ll be Epiphany presents this year.
9 AM…
Dammit dammit dammit! Everywhere has Trader Joe’s except Toronto! Not fair! bob, if you like ginger, get some Triple Ginger Snaps. They’re awesome. The cocoa almonds and chocolate covered cherries and blueberries are damn good, too.
Sob.
We got four or five inches of snow today, and taking the laundry out was an adventure. Happily it’s a little warmer today, and bright and sunny. I like winter. It’s prettier than summer, and I can wear scarves and boots and nice fuzzy sweaters. I think I’ll make some chai and put the laundry away. I have to go Christmas shopping and renew a prescription this afternoon, and I’ll see if Driving Husband would like to go out for dinner.
I’m glad you can sing better than you type…
