The actor playing Manny is so terrible that I just can’t believe this is for real.
Maybe it is being staged somehow? Maybe the producers figure if they have him act as if he is the worst actor currently on TV - and in fact, in all the history of TV - maybe that will generate some publicity for their show?
Granted, it is terrible negative publicity. But is it possible they actually think this may bring new viewers to the show?
Or maybe this kid just doesn’t want to be an actor anymore for any one of a thousand reasons and is deliberately trying to sabotage his job because he can’t get through to his parents or the producers and they won’t let him out of his contract. So maybe he figures that if he just deliberately does an incredibly terrible job, they will fire him and he can be a normal kid again?
OK. So, I’m not really being serious about this, except for one thing.
I cannot remember in all the history of TV any actor who is worse than this kid who plays Manny.
We all know of some child actors who seemed really good when they were kids but as they grew up, they just devolved into poor actors.
Perhaps it’s possible this kid was good when he first started. But three years later, he has grown and maybe hit puberty and maybe those changes have resulted in his being the absolute worst actor ever now.
In any case, if this show is going to get renewed for a 4th season, I would expect they would find a way to replace him.
There are lots of ways. They don’t have to kill him off. They could just have him go away to school in Colombia and have an exchange student - maybe his cousin - come and live with Jay and Gloria.
If any of the producers of the show ever read this forum, then please. I’m begging you. Please replace the actor playing this kid. At first it was funny listening to his terrible delivery. But now it is just unbearable to watch your show.
I think he’s just as decent as he’s always been. Worst actor on TV? He’s not that bad.
