Moderna's vaccine vs Pfizer's

Some guy shared his picture of getting a COVID19 vaccine from Pfizer. I asked why he got Pfizer instead of Moderna, and then he blocked me. I am curious so as to why this has happened. Any idea?

I would guess he blocked you for some other reason. Like, he didn’t realize he’d posted publicly, or he doesn’t want to talk to you for other reasons. Or maybe he thinks you are a vaccine crank, and doesn’t want to deal.

On its face, the question seems benign. Although for most people, the answer is, “that’s the one that was available”.

When my PCP receives the vaccine, it will be Moderna. Personally, I’d rather have Phizer because I’d heard of the company long before COVID came around. (Mrs. L.A. has, or had at some point, Pfizer stock,) But like my dad always said, ‘It ain’t what you want, but what you eat that makes you fat.’

From what I know:

Modernia: 94.xx% effective. You need 2 doses 28 days apart (with a 4 day ‘leeway’ window) and an additional 2 weeks to achieve that. After the 1st dose it is 80-90% effective in 28 days. Tested and approved for those 18 and up. They are saying that it will be effective for at least one year.

Pfizer 95% effective, you need 2 doses 21 days apart and an additional 2 weeks to achieve that. Tested and approved for those 16 and up. No data about a single dose.

Did he know he took the Pfizer vaccine, or did you see it somewhere else in the picture? Maybe he confused it with Mederma.
