Mods, can't you tell Snowboarder Bo to shut up?

So you were trying to start a board meme of calling me a jerk?

ETA: I never was trying to start a board meme. I never claimed to be trying to do that.

How about just typing LOL like others would do instead of being an annoying twit with the quarry nonsense?

Can I get some clarification here? I’ve just had a mod call me a jackass, and another poster call me a twit. Are insults now allowed in ATMB?

Pardon me?

Bo? That ship sailed.

But how often are people really “laughing out loud”? Sometimes, sure, but I’ve seen people type LOL and they weren’t even laughing out loud, seems dishonest.

I think we should strive to be more honest in our communication. If you are laughing out loud, by all means, use LOL.

But if you are merely amused, then I recommend something a little more accurate:
“Your post amused me”

I’m going to change my catchphrase to:

There was a board I was a member of for a while where a couple of members took to posting in acronyms occasionally.

SBISAFI. For example.

And while technically they weren’t breaking any rules, and while a few people who weren’t participating found it hi-larious, you better believe that it A) didn’t do a thing for the community (not that all posts should, obviously, but they shouldn’t usually serve to divide either) and B) made them seem like jerks, co-opting a “public” place to have their own little party that they could choose or not choose to invite others to.

Don’t you get it? When a mod calls you a jackass, what he/she really means is, “OMG Bo, you so funny!”

And when a regular poster calls you a twit in ATMB, what it really means is, “Bo, that is one hi-larious post there. Keep 'em coming!”

Why should they stop posting these comedic gems just because you choose not to recognize the context?

While we’re at it, let’s start referring to ATMB as The Hibachi.

HEY…your using my moniker as your custom title…I think you OWE me big time.

Thank you in advance for a Great case of beer…pm for delivery instructions.

The REAL ThisSpaceForRent

And shit.

Amen.

Why? Because the board rules don’t allow it.

Thanks for the clarification - I never knew that.

Although I bet it doesn’t apply if you’re just making a funny. Seriously, dude, lighten up.

Heck with it. I’m going to start posting the phrase “I wanna dip my BALLS in it!”* in response to every suitable opportunity in any thread in any forum. And because I’ll be doing it because it amuses me rather than to deliberately annoy people, it won’t be trolling and therefore well within the rules. Winning!

And look at all the other people about to do the same thing! Man, what a fun place this messageboard is about to become! Maybe we can get the mods to allow us to put some LOLCATS** images in our signatures too! ROFLFDTTQATSSI!!!

Thanks, Snowboarder Bo, for your inspirational leadership!

  • I’d use “That’s what SHE said!” but that annoys even me.
**Sorry - “Let’s go down to the quarry and throw some stuff in CATS”

Though we all reserve the right to ignore any other poster, does Bo or any other poster really need reminding of this? Bo is fully aware that people who might find his posting style annoying might also opt to not read his posts anymore. But he’s a big boy and a grown up and can decide that for himself regarding how he posts. It really shouldn’t be anyone’s place to shake a finger at him, or any other poster who’s posting style they do not happen to prefer. If you don’t prefer someone’s posting style, whether it be for a phrase they use or whatever your own personal reason might be, just put them on ignore, or scroll - and be done with it. Why is that so difficult? If there was ever a problem (if you deem it a problem) that could solve itself this is it. It is truly bizarre that so many people are on such a high horse as to be asking that someone stop using a phrase such as this, insisting how annoying this is, as though their own opinion was the only one that matters, and that this poster please stop what they are doing - when they have the power to take matters into their own hands and avoid this overbearing approach, an approach more obnoxious than any phrase, however annoying. You overbearing people are worse than this phrase, and all the other bad phrases put together. Get off your high horses, see the bigger picture, and use your scroll button and ignore feature judiciously. Personally, I don’t like any of the memes or phrases. Guess what? Who gives a darn? It’s easy enough to handle on my own and not be telling someone else how to post to my liking, or what to do in general. After all, who am I to do that? Who is anyone?

Cool catchphrase!

That’s what SHE said!
Oops - wrong catchphrase
