Do we have to dig all this up again? really? It never accomplished anything the first time, so why are we doing it again?

No, I know that it was done, because I saw it. I also know that at least one of the posts had to do with the Melin thing. I think that there may have been some others, but that’s the one I know I remember.
And obviously, as I said, it’s my word against anyone else’s, because there couldn’t be evidence of such a thing, now could there?

Certainly there could. Other people in the thread, or in other threads, commenting upon the change. People saying, “Hey, wait, wasn’t there a post from Tuba in this thread?” “Hey, what happened to Tuba’s post?” Or people replying to Tuba’s non-existant post. Or even entirely new threads started in order to ask about what happened.
So, you want to state that this happened? Go find it. Go point to a specific thread and make a case. Right now, you’re just saying, “Well, I remember it happening, though I can’t say in what thread or when.”
Hey Goldie, why wouldn’t there be evidence of editing? I believe I noticed a rather obvious line on some posts, something about “edited by ‘X’ on ‘Y’ date?”

I do remember some deletions occuring during the Melin incident, but I don’t have any specifics either. But using Melingate as a typical example is about as fair as using Concrete as an example. Right Goldie?

Not baseless. It hasn’t been denied, and someone else has now weighed in to say that he remembers it too. And I’m ont “coming in after months.” I’ve been around, posting a handful of posts here and there on a regular basis. I just don’t post to announce when I’m drunk, and stuff like that.
What sort of evidence? I’m not about to take the time to search all thousand-plus posts of TubaDiva’s (or JillGat’s) to look for one or two that reflect that she edited her own post. Or to look for comments by other posters, if they ever noticed it. And, of course, any posts that were simply deleted would leave no trace. All this happened back when Melin was fired as a moderator – I think that’s more than a year ago.

It’s an opinion issue until you have proof, sir. If there truly was a significant post where Tuba or Jill seriously altered their posts to have a different meaning, I would imagine that, out of all the hundreds of people who probably saw that thread, ONE of them would have noticed.

That what happened? That Tuba deleted a post almost two years ago? I have no idea, I’m not TubaDiva. I wasn’t even a mod back then. That was over a year and a half ago.
Do we mods edit our own posts occassionally? Hell yeah. I know I do. Sometimes I do it because of really bad spelling or syntax errors. But you can see that we edited the post. vB inserts a statement to that effect. I’m sure you’ve all seen it. We can’t prevent that statement from appearing in a post we edit, even if we wanted to.
However I don’t think the SDMB at large needs to worry about mods making a habit of calling other posters “poopyhead” and then deleting it and denying it was even posted when someone complains.
I’d also like to add that I’m a little on edge since some people are bent on coughing up events that occurred a long time ago and are best left alone. So if I commited a logical fallacy with my Bigfoot analogy, I apologize.
If you have complains about the current staff regarding relatively recent events, then by all means let us know. But what’s that expression about sleeping dogs and letting them lie?
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to delete my previous post and every other post that refers to it and pretend it never happened.
