Ah. I thought it seemed a bit long. March 1999 was when Drain registered.
Ugh, now I have to delete that post too.

The berating of the mods has been epidemic lately. We need to seek out a cure for this problem. I fail to understand why certain factions feel motivated to constantly bait other members and mods. We all agreed not to be a jerk when we became members here. The mods take their own time, no pay and a lot of gruff to do their moderating duties.
The taunts to mods of “ban me then” do not reflect an intelligent exchange of information. Lets stop and remember why we like this board.
My two cents…

Fellow citizens! Listen to me! The monster has been dead for over a year, but now has been unwisely resurrected! It will only sow discord and anger if not stopped! So grab those lit torches, form a mob, and follow me – we will wrestle this bad boy back into its coffin, and this time put a stake through its heart! Then the pointless, long-dead spectre of who-did-what-to-whom-a-year-and-a-half-ago will ne’er be raised again. Who’s with me???
I do want to point out that Goldie has been trying to prove instances of Mods “abusing” their “powers”. IMOSHO, the example he provided does not point towards “abuse”… according to other posters’ reactions in that thread, a less-than-civil post was removed. Given the already-inflamed nature of that thread, I would think it prudent to remove any unnecessary flaming? Especially flaming that was done in the heat of the moment (no pun intendid).
They’re only human, dammit. The fact that there’s such a small (read: near-infinitesimal) occurance of such activities going on in the board’s history only provideds testament to the Mod/Admins’ patience when it comes to emotional matters, don’t you?
Yeah, you know what? Most everyone is in agreement here.
We want to have an environment that encourages anyone who request and explanation for a moderator’s or administrator’s actions. We are not infalliable and I know firsthand that I can let my emotions get the best of me; causing me to post things that are not in the best interest of the SDMB. We are only human.
That being said, I am closing this thread. Please do not consider this to be an indication that we refuse to hear critiques of the board, or the people who work for it. I personally feel that this particular thread should have ended a while ago.
I would also like to remind posters that bringing up old grudges about specific posters or particularly ugly incidents is in poor taste, even in the Pit. It creates tremendous ill will and as Fletch eloquently said, it really goes against everything this board and this community stands for.
As usual, if you have any further questions or comments, you know how to reach us.
