I agree. I don’t even want to think about Christmas until Thanksgiving is over, but I have forced myself to do some online shopping to allow for shipping delays.
This being the hijacking thread, not the XMas decs thread, I’d like to know who’s already taken down their Thanksgiving decs. Or still has their 2021 XMas decs up.
Or who owns a pony I could borrow for some experiments.
Outside lights are mostly up and tested. But I’m not running them until Thanksgiving. I like doing the lights in early November before it gets freezing cold.
I was outside today already checking on the Radon reduction fan and it is freezing and blustery out. I made a temporary noise reduction. Doing lights in this weather is unpleasant. So best to find a nice day in early November and do it then.
Indoor Christmas stuff will go up the weekend after Turkey Day.
I don’t have Thanksgiving Decorations and if I did why would they be down already?
Because it’s a nonsense question in a nonsense thread. Do you have a pony I could borrow?
I do actually. But you have to pick it up yourself. The Cyan Pony is a good choice, it is practically a Horse of a Different Color.
I did buy fall-themed throw pillows for my sofa yesterday. Does that count?
I have one of those coffee tables with removable tile inserts. I’ve always wanted to get a collection of tiles in different colors so I can use it as an accent for the various seasons.
People who put up Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving are going to the special level of Hell reserved for child molesters and people who talk at the theater.
I stand by my reasoning. It gets cold here post Thanksgiving. It is more pleasant getting the lights up and ready to just turn on Thanksgiving Night. I don’t put out Yard stuff anyway.
You’re probably are still in the 50s in early December with an occasional 60° day. I’m hoping for a Sunny day of 40s.
When I lived in cold country I did exactly this. As did many, many other people. Great minds and all that …
It was always nice to come home from work on the Monday after Thanksgiving and see the neighborhood transformed from 1 or 2 slightly-lit houses the Wednesday prior to most everyone fully brightened up. By that date of course it was at best dusk by the time I was home from my office job, and it was definitely 100% dark if I worked late. So much more cheerful than the alternative.
That first Monday after New Year’s when the neighborhood went 90% dark again was a sad homecoming indeed.
Too late!
Due tomorrow. Still with a howling wind, though. Better wait till Tuesday.
(what, you mean not everybody has the same weather report as I do? What a shocking idea!)
Just wear contact lenses, no more crying because of onions. I don’t know how often I have to say it. It sure isn’t the forst time here.
Now please somebody tell me what this MMP stuff is and where I find it. Or do I have to look for it myself?
(Googles “Radon reduction fan”)
Hmm. Are there areas where these are fairly common?
Well technically speaking, recto is the front side of a printed page, verso (like in reverso → turn over or flip over) is the back side of a printed page. Now when you bind them, like in a book in your example, the front side of a page appears on the right side of an open document, the back side will automatically be on the left side after the first page. So what you say is no wrong, but there is a reason for that. I hope this nitpicking is hijacking enough.
Yes, areas with a fairly high Radon issue. Fairly common in NJ, where basements are very common.
I wonder what Cyan Ponies eat? Like with flamingos and salmon, does the color of their feed affect the color of their coat? If they mate with the Fruit Stripe Gum Horse what do the offspring look like? Paisely or polka-dotted perhaps? Enquiring minds want to know.
Speaking of mating, the “Cyan Pony” reminded me of a strip club I occasionally attended in 1980s Las Vegas called “The Plush Horse”. Whose logo was a pinkish/purplish stuffed toy pony with a very sassy tail. Google says they’re long gone. Shame.
Granite gives off radon. Granite is naturally (slightly) radioactive. Anywhere granite is plentiful near the surface and basements are common the combination represents a problem worth abating.
Radon testing was a routine part of buying and selling a house in St. Louis MO where I used to live. In many neighborhoods the fans were included as a matter of course in new construction. Many older neighborhoods have been largely retrofitted one house at a time. Other areas nearby were more on soil with the granite much farther underground and fans were rare in those areas.
Awareness of all this seems to have gotten started in about the 1980s. I know I’d never heard of the issue anywhere before then, although I’d not lived in radon-prone areas before then either.

Now please somebody tell me what this MMP stuff is and where I find it. Or do I have to look for it myself?
The MMP FAQ **What does MMP stand for? **Monday Morning Post **What the $#@& is an MMP anyhow? **Basically a ragtag collection of stuff that is too pointless even for MPSIMS. Sharing our personal observations, the day -to-day details of our lives, what we’re fixing for dinner, the weather, and the deep importance of buying 48 rolls of toilet paper at a time. We start a new one every Monday. Who starts the MMP every week? We take turns. Sometimes Voluntarily, sometimes coerced What is a Mump…
Current thread:
That is the exact reason I own 3 springform pans. I did track 2 down, not sure how many cheesecakes I’m making yet.
And to think, I thought the Fruit Stripe Mascot was a Zebra. Actually, following the link, it was indeed a Zebra. Are Zebras white with black stripes or black with white stripes?
The Cyan Pony is just a mutant I suppose. But without any fun X-Men like powers.

Are Zebras white with black stripes or black with white stripes?
White with black stripes.
