Moisturizer/sunblock that doesn't feel or smell like sunblock?

So, it’s 90+ degrees and sunny here right now, I walk outside a lot (since I take the bus to work) and since I am whitey mcwhiterson, I burn fairly easily and wish to avoid skin cancer.

The problem is that I HATE wearing sunblock. Obviously I’ll do it if I’m going to be outside for an extended period of time (like at a parade or the beach, or something), and I’d like to be able to wear it daily as a moisturizing routine, but I’m dragging my feet at the idea of covering myself in foul-smelling grease for the brief periods of time where I’m taking the bus to and from work.

Can anyone recommend a daily moisturizer/sunblock that, well, doesn’t act like sunblock? I’ve tried Eucerin’s daily protection moisturizer stuff, and I’ll probably end up going back to it if there’s nothing else available, but I’d like something better, if it exists.

TL;DR: I hate sunblock. I need sunblock. I want it to not be greasy and stinky. Help!

Neutrogena UltraSheer™ dry-touch Sunblock (from 30-70 SPF) is not greasy, you’ll find it either with the sunscreen or with the facial moisturizers. I only use it on my face, neck and chest, but you could apply it all over. My all purpose sunscreen is Ombrelle.

I was just coming in here to post that one. It dries and doesn’t feel heavy or greasy or gritty and it hasn’t so far caused me to break out, which is a small victory.

That, and the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Daily Sunblock Liquid that I posted in the makeup recommendation thread. It’s just a liquid sunblock, no moisturizer, so there is no greasy feel at all. It’s made from titanium dioxide and zinc dioxide, which are gentle on sensitive skin. (Other chemical sunscreens, like avobenzone, can cause irritation.)

I just picked up a can of Trader Joe’s Nourish Spray Sunscreen. It is the first sunscreen I’ve tried that feels weightless and non-greasy and doesn’t have that sunscreen smell. And it doesn’t interfere with my make-up.

Thanks for the responses, folks! I’m planning on making a run to the drugstore this morning, so I’ll definitely keep these in mind.

I use Aloe Gator SPF 40. It’s a bit greasy but performs real well and lasts all day through all sorts of physical activity.

It’s probably not what you’re looking for but read a few more reviews from the link I provided.

Use the spray stuff for your whole body and you’ll never touch another sunscreen again.

As for your face if you need a moisturizer, you can’t go wrong with Aveeno Positively Radiant spf30.

Unless, of course, you need more than that, in which case I’d recommend Neutrogena’s moisturizer/sunscreen combo.

Oil of Olay has a great moisturizer / sunblock combo that works really well and is cheaper than Neutrogena or Aveeno.

Palo Verde, does it come in spf30? I’ve only seen it locally with spf15.

Thirded.

Also for the shoulders I love the Neutrogena cooling mist spray sun block. It doesn’t feel like there is anything there at all which while it is awesome means you need to be careful while appling lest you turn into stripe girl.

I don’t have anything to add, but I love that parade attendence is the top of your list of things you do outside. Awesome.

I’ve been using their SPF15 Daily Moisturizer for sensitive skin for years. Very light and non-greasy, but not a great all-day sunblock. I’ve tried the SPF30 version but I don’t like the finicky pump dispenser which has a tendency to stop working long before the lotion has run out.

Thanks for mentioning the Neutrogena Pure and Free Liquid–I went out at lunch and got a bottle.

Pricey but very not-sunscreenlike: Clinique’s Super City Block. It’s even very slightly tinted.

That’s one of my favorites, and I actually need more of it. I also like the Jan Marini antioxidant daily face protectant. It’s spf 30, it smells lovely, and it almost acts like a primer. It’s expensive, though.

Due to price, I use the Clinique around my eyes and for spot-reapplication while on the go. I use the aforementioned Neutrogena options or Paula’s Choice Extra Care Non-Greasy Sunscreen SPF 45, which is also not very sunscreeny. I don’t want to risk skimping on sunscreen application due to price.

Ahhh, that’s interesting. I wonder if they’re phasing it out in other places due to the pump.

Haha, I wrote it there because I was actually IN a parade this past weekend, so it was the first thing I thought of (and Pride’s coming up, yay!).

Oh, I suppose I should mention that I ended up getting the Neutrogena dry-touch stuff. Daaaaaaaamn, that was expensive. It’ll probably be worth it, though. And I can always try some of these other suggestions when the bottle runs out.

They also make a sports version (blue tube/bottle) that’s waterproof, sweatproof, etc… as well, and it’s just as non-nasty feeling as the other kind.
