Monday is Caveman Day!

If any commercial character should have their own show, it’s Erin Esurance.

OK, almost bedtime here. I am eager to read reviews and comments in the morning. Remember, you are viewing television history.

She (kinda) does!

Yeah, but she’s a LEGAL Kim Possible. It’s slightly less pervy that way.

I’ll giv “Cavemen” a try, but I’ve seen the American “Fawlty Towers” and “The Kallikaks,”, so my bar for bad is really high.

Hey, I thought I was the only one who remembered “The Kaillikaks”. Heck, I thought my brother and I were the only ones who watched “The Kallikaks”.

I peruse and post at a few other boards, and on at least a couple of them, several women have mentioned they are going as Erin Esurance for Halloween.

Our local affiliate has rescheduled Cavemen to be broadcast at 1:30 am. So I’m going to take a nap as soon as I get home from work so I can stay up to watch it… not.

beaver??!! the sleepless guy is canadian? then why does he see lincoln? perhaps he lives in the states now or watched too much ken burns.

huh, i thought it was a groundhog.

Ummm…is this a whoosh? Cause there are plenty of beavers all over the US.

Anybody watching this? Because it is excruciating. Has a show ever been cancelled after only one episode?

We can only hope, Jess.

The first question I have (if it matters): Are there any Cavewomen? Because I didn’t see any sign of them. There must be, because the guy dating the “sape” chick was given grief for not “keeping his penis in his own genus”.

Yeah, this is pretty awful. I mean, just boring. No humor whatsoever, and the racial satire is tepid. I mean, this could have worked, if they had bothered to make up a caveman culture to play with. Kind of a comedic “Alien Nation”, you know? But this is terrible.

Five seconds in and Carpoolers is already about ten times funnier. So the night’s not a total loss.

The main plot of the first episode (not the pilot- the pilot was sent to be retooled after some believed the cavemen reinforced negative black stereotypes) was about the cavemen’s relationships and whether it was right for them to date evolved women. I thought the show would be more interesting if it dealt with the same thing the commercials do- how hard it is to be a caveman in the modern world. There were two jokes to this effect that were the funniest ones, in my opinion- one of the cavemen talking about The Flintstones (“He orders ribs and they cause his car to tip over? How is that even possible?”) and their “primitive grunting” turning out to be the sounds they make while playing Wii video games. I hate to reinforce negative stereotypes, but I guess starring in a sitcom is not so easy, a caveman can do it.

Yes. At the party, there was a mention of there only being two cavewomen, who they thought were lesbians since they weren’t with any of the men.

They went with the safe choice for the moronic co-worker: the ever insultable white male.

There have been several, both in the US and abroad

I only made it through about 6 minutes and then tossed the remote to my husband and begged him to put us our of our misery.

Carpoolers, on the other hand, had me at Air Supply. Actually they had me at Bruce McCulloch as EP.

If they could bring back *The Knights of Prosperity * to replace Cavemen, that would be a satisfactory hour.

ETA: Did anyone else notice the Friendly’s commercial during the first break? It used the same Air Supply song. Weird, eh?

Opened with Air Supply, and closed with Boston. I don’t care what happens in-between, that’s a pretty kick-ass show.

I tuned in out of curiosity knowing I’d hate it. We didn’t last 2 minutes. Just not all that entertaining.

I half watched it. It was ok, nothing great. I did however like the credits at the start, or at least the Twisted Sister photo with them. I might try it again, but only if I remember about it. Is the caveman with the glasses from Sports Night? He sounded like it.

Oh, yes. Oh, my goodness, yes there are.
