Yeah, I would have thought some spunky entrepreneur would have come around and made a few bucks off the thing.
It’s probably still in some Justice Department vault (since it was evidence collected by the Independent Counsel’s Office, and was later DNA-tested by the FBI) or in some National Archives warehouse by now. Probably going to be the focus of an exhibit at the Smithsonian in fifty years or so.
The dress was returned to Monica Lewinsky in 2001. She had previously said that if she ever got the dress back she would burn it. I imagine that that’s exactly what she did, though I’ve never see confirmation of it.
Monica probably made a pillow case out of it. Either that it’s in a sealed crate sitting on top of another large, slightly humming crate from ca. 1940 somewhere in a massive government warehouse.
I guess now we know what the plot of Indiana Jones 4 is going to be…
