Well, apparently the hamsters know where to get a good meal…
The original query is moot, as I finally stopped dithering and choose a restaurant based on reviews from the Montreal ChowHound Message Boards. My boyfriend and I are travelling to Montreal, and I decided we should have our upscale night-out dinner at Bonaparte. So, in order for this thread to have a purpose, anybody got more information about it? All the messageboard said was “It’s good. And the waiters aren’t snooty.”
Also, one part of the original query I’d like to keep:
Is Le Festin du Gouverneur really super touristy and cheesy, or a good, fun (albeit cheesy) time? It sounds like the kind of thing my boyfriend might dig.
Dunno, never eaten there. But if you have a little extra time, head up to the Terrasse Lafayette. It’s a wonderful, extremely friendly little Greek/Italian place run by a pair of Greek immigrants since forever. They are beautiful people and just the salt of the earth. My parents used to live above it before I was born.
It’s on the corner of Villeneuve and Jeanne-Mance - you can walk from Laurier metro or take the #80 or #535 bus (runs constantly) north from Place-des-Arts metro, get off at Villeneuve St., and head east.
They take only cash and you should bring your own wine. I especially recommend the souvlaki.
Oh, and when will you be there? Will it be the weekend of the 24th? Will you come to Dopereal? Please say yes
Matt-
Thanks for the suggestion on the restaurant.
Unfortunately, I’ll be in town the 26th through 29th, so I just miss Dopereal.
