I finally earned the title “the Crazy Cat Lady” yesterday, made me happy
I had been playing GW2 to get my MMORPG fix, but got bored and re-subscribed to WoW and was surprised to see I got a free Mists of Pandaria out of it; I’m now leveling my 85 hunter.
Also, because of the upcoming name release, I made sure I logged in to all of my characters across all servers. I see that at least one of my Cairne characters is still in the BDL guild, so if someone needs something (that my character is authorized to do), let me know.
Grats! What was your last kitty you got to score the achieve?
In my case, I won my first Celestial pet tournament and chose the baby tiger god.
Seems odd to have a local diety give me his child because I won some pet duels, but whatever.
Remind me not to piss your toon off out there in the World of Warcraft. You’d probably MoP the floors with my poor hunter. ![]()
BOO! HISS!
Well, tbh, I have all three Brewfest Mounts: I bought both rams the first year Brewfest came out, when you bought them with game tickets, and then I got the kodo about 2 years ago.
Did the Coren fight twice and killed Huolon twice last night. No love.
I have the ram from last year (his name is Dodge), but it would be lovely to have the kodo.
Congrats to all on your achievements!
Nah, I suck at actual PvP ![]()
Wait, there are two rams?
There used to. I mean, if you have the mount, they both still exist. But you can’t get them both any more.
The one everyone can get now (if Coren and the RNG gods smile) is the Swift Brewfest Ram.
But why “Swift”?
Because there used to be a “regular” one. Back in 2007, in the first year of BC. The “regular” ram was the +60% mount you could ride after level 30. You couldn’t ride the “Swift” one before level 60.
That first year, you would grind Brewfest tickets to buy permission (with those tickets) to buy one or both of the mounts from a vendor with gold. Yeah, it was weird.
I’d argue that riding around on one of those baic rams with a first-year Brewfest souvenir stein is basically self-identifying as a hipster-oldster.
Well, with just two days remaining of Brewfest, and only 2 more chances to get one of those Brewfest mounts, I guess it’s looking likely that Coren has snubbed me again. Sniff.
I’m closing in on the Netherwing mounts, though… and I have two more Cloud Serpent mounts awaiting me having the cash to go buy them.
And, more surprisingly, after a 5 year break from the Argent Tournament mount grind, I’ve been stopping in there to do the odd daily again, and am finally Exalted with the Silver Covenant people, opening up yet more dailies and two more possible mounts. I don’t have enough of their Champion’s Seals, or whatever their currency is yet, but I’m not terribly far off. The QuelDorei steed is only a handful of Seals away.
Grats on the progress. Tough break on Direbrew, though. He’s a right bastard.
I got 199/200 on Mount Parade with the purchase of the Bone-White Primal Raptor. 9,999 dino bones is a lot of dino killing.
I’ve always been able to carry around an unhatched primal dinosaur egg, but the last 6 I’ve hatched have been dupes of the first two, so I’m still waiting for a Red Primal Raptor to hatch. Gotta grind more dinosaurs to get an egg. I’ll collect the bones to buy the Spectral Porcupette (a mere 999 bones) and then sell excess bones (2g per bone! maybe I’ll be able to afford the engineering mount after all!)
Of course, I may go insane repeatedly turning in a quest to trade one bone for 2g, over and over and over and over. (It’s a quest*, not a merchant sale, so it sounds like it might be painful. But I’ve done the like before, so at least it’s familiar pain.)
*Haven’t had occasion to try it yet, so I don’t know… but some comments on forums indicate that this quest isn’t a repeatable, but instead a daily… which would be completely bone-headed (see what I did there?) If I have dozens of bones in my bag, and nothing else worth buying, why would I sell one bone a day for a measly 2g? It’d be smarter to not have the quest at all.
Can anybody tell me how “soloable” the TBC raids Hyjal and Sunwell Plateau might be for a fairly-well-geared ret paladin? My human paladin soloed Black Temple (using the official guide) and picked up the Lightbringer (T6) shoulders, chest, and legs. But the remaining set pieces are in the other two raids.
Damage output isn’t an issue; I’m more interested in mechanics that might make soloing difficult/impossible.
My DK, who isn’t all that well geared (low 500s) can easily solo most of both Hyjal and Sunwell, IIRC (it’s been a while). Thoughts:
SWP
- Kalecgos (I can’t remember whether you still need to have somebody go into the portal–I think you might)
- Brutallus: Just pure damage output. Takes time, but not hard.
- 3rd boss (the bone dragon–I forgot her name): Again, purely damage output. If you can get her down before she does the “dance studio” thing, you’re golden.
- Twins: Easy. They don’t do enough damage to make a difference.
- The Naaru (again, forgot name): Easy.
- Kil’jaeden: really easy. Again, just damage output. You can ignore the mechanics.
You can skip most of the trash. The trash is actually a bit scary in spots if you pull too much at once, so be careful.
Hyjal:
Packs of trash: easy, but reealllly boring with one.
Lich boss: Easy IIRC. I think even if he freezes you it’s not enough damage to kill a well geared 90.
Second boss: Easy.
Third boss: Easy (I think.) I don’t think he poisons you if you’re solo, but even if he does you should be able to kill him before you die.
Archi: I don’t think he launches you if you’re solo, but I could be wrong. Just equip your tears and hack away. Easy.
This is all based on pretty old memory–I usually duo these with a friend, so most of my experience is based on that.
My experience as a Hunter. YMMV, since a hunter never truly solos anything.
Sunwell:
Kalecgos: you can clear him easily enough with adequate DPS and self-heal, but it took lots of attempts for me to clear it and actually be able to loot. YMMV. He drops the T6 gloves, so I imagine you’ll want to try to do the fight for the loot. Good luck.
Brutallus: Straight DPS, plus self-heal. No tricksies.
Felmyst (bone dragon): If you can’t burn her in the first ground phase, you’ll have to dance around doing zero DPS and avoiding poison clouds (or else be MCd and reset the encounter) until the next ground phase.
Eredar twins: tank 'n spank, I think. They can do a disorienting conflagration, but that’s just annoying, not encounter-ending.
Mu’ru and Kil’Jaeden: no tricksies that I could recall.
My recollections about Hyjal later.
Thanks - I’ll give 'em a try. That Lightbringer set looks pretty nice.
Today was a productive day. I don’t know if they stealth-nerfed the Isle of Thunder solo scenarios, or if I’m simply finally figuring out how to play my fire mage again, but I managed to get said fire mage through the final five scenarios and open up the Isle’s dailies. I had pretty much given up after the nightmare that was the first scenario (six deaths to the final boss, 83g repair bill afterward). Somebody tell Blizzard that Vereesa Windrunner is not a tank.
The only real trouble I had was the scenario on the boat. But that one was a PITA for every class I’ve run through there on. That boss below decks is just next to impossible, especially for a caster who needs room to maneuver. There also seems to be an odd graveyard glitch. There’s a “graveyard” right there on the dock next to the boat, but if you die on the boat you get sent back to a GY on the “mainland”. You can’t run back to your corpse - if you run across the water to the boat there’s no way to get back on the boat or up on the dock. If you run back along the wall in front of the mogu area, that big hole you blew in the wall a couple scenarios earlier is no longer there. So what I finally ended up doing was just waiting next to the boat until Taoshi finally killed the boss and we could progress. But then …
… clicking the “Return to Graveyard” button sent me, not to the GY on the dock, and not to the GY on the shore, but planted me right smack in front of the scenario’s final boss. Like, right at his feet! Fortunately, I suppose because the scenario hadn’t progressed that far yet, he didn’t aggro on me. But Taoshi was waiting down on the dock, and there was an army of trolls between us. All I could do was let myself be killed again, then ghost-run down to the dock and rez at the GY there. After that it was smooth sailing.
After the IoT, I finally took my mage to the Timeless Isle. She was already wearing a full suit of Timeless gear, except for 522 PvP shoulders and cloak, and the crafted 553 belt and pants. I discovered she’s still not putting out the damage fast enough to take on the frogs yet, but she managed to get in on about eight rare kills. More PvP gear will help, as well as getting a better weapon. That green 429 staff she has ain’t cutting it on the TI.
The Jewel crafting Sapphire Cub.
Shouldn’t the servers be back up by now?
They are TWELVE MINUTES LATE now.
Hopefully, you expressed your outrage by starting a brand-new thread to the official forums, rather than posting to one of the sixteen existing threads ![]()
(Didn’t affect me - I was at work from 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM.)
My Netherwing grind was finally finished this morning. About time, too. I was getting tired of disciplining those peons.
And, after trying to up my game at the ToC grounds, doing every daily I can find, I have gotten two new mounts from them in the last couple of days; the Swift Violet Ram, and the Queldorei Steed, bringing me up to six ToC mounts.
All of this has put me over the 100 mark for Mountain 'o Mounts, though I haven’t yet received my Blue Dragonhawk prize.
Grats on your mounts! I just started doing the trial of champions for the first time to get all the pets there. Any idea how long a grind I’m in for?
Hmm, I’m not sure. There’s at least 6 pets out there - maybe more? - and I think the five that are sold by the different factions go for 50 Champion’s Seals each. If you’ve got all the dailies unlocked (that’ll take you awhile) you can farm about 15 Seals per day, correct me if I’m wrong. I’m pretty sure I have seen some or all of the pets for sale in the Auction House, though… so if it were me and I was ONLY interested in the pets I think I’d just buy them rather than go through the grind of farming them.
There’s the Argent Squire pet, and I honestly don’t remember how much that costs or if it’s from a quest or what, but if you get Exalted with the Argent Tournament faction you can buy him his very own pony, for 100 seals. Then he can act as a portable banker and mailbox with a four hour cooldown. I don’t have one of those ponies for my squire, but might put it on my wish list once I’m finished farming the mounts.
You might have, actually. If you’re expecting something in the mail, I don’t know if Blizz still does that. Odds are good it just got stealth-added to your mount list (shift-P, “Mounts” tab).
It’s been that way with a few of my mount additions lately. If it’s not added to the mount list by activating an inventory item (loot, etc.) you have or buy, odds are good it just automagically gets added. Which means you don’t get a congratulatory email from some NPC hero, either. Which is a bummer, I guess.
