More Muslim Marvelousnous

Hey, quick question. How do you know if someone is Muslim?

Do you want us to keep records of people’s religion? Is that okay with you?

Is that really the best you can do? I must ask—no, I must INSIST that you try harder. If you wind up biting your tongue off as it sticks out of the corner of your mouth as you concentrate and grimace through the effort, you’ll know you’ve given it all you’ve got.

Well, it’s ridiculous to think they all look alike. Some might be carrying a Koran. Others a scimitar, you know, for beheadings. Others a bag full of rocks in the chance that a stoning pops up. Others might just have bloody hands from mutilating a young girl. Others still might be walking a pet goat. It’s not like they’ll all have bombs strapped to them. That would be using a broad brush, would it not?

I don’t think it’s necessary, but it wouldn’t bother me. As far as the topic at hand, as I’ve said before, the FBI should focus in first in Muslims (mosques) and further cull from there.

I really have no idea why I made that assumption, villa. His latest gem really digs the hole deeper, though, doesn’t it?

That whole Constitutional rights thing is a completey foreign concept to you, isn’t it, magellan?

A fine old tradition, infiltration by the Secret Police. Did it to the Communists, did it to the Klan, did it to the Anti-war Movement. I’m sure Mags can give them some pointers on how to “fit in”. In fact, I can point them right to one of those dirty Muslims, he’s my Congressman, the Hon. Kieth Ellison. Shouldn’t be too hard to find.

Funny story, back in the Dark Days, one of my better buddies was rather more radical than myself, and prone to conspiracy theories, dumb ideas about how the FBI was watching him. Piffle, says I, you don’t count for shit, why would they bother? Some years later, many, he got his file from Freedom of Information. About two inches thick. Didn’t much like that. Then he pointed out the place where my name showed up. Didn’t like that at all! but at least the dumb fuckers misspelled it.

And that was back in the days when they didn’t even have good computers to keep track of the stuff, huh? :smack:

Oh, sorry. A retarded bigot *and *a bully.

Maybe we could, I dunno, sort of concentrate them all in one area?

It would be just like summer camp!

I am finding it hard to have any sympathy for you in the face of such wilful foolishness.

Of course, if you want to register firearms, that is a huge no no. Registering people’s religion, on the other hand, well, there’s no history of that turning out bad.

I hear that you can tell who’s a dangerous Muslim by making everyone step on a Korean before getting on a plane.

I note there are two things in this thread that have our board’s liberal posters have been avoiding in droves.

One is the question of why the left can routinely make all-inclusive broad-brush condemnations of conservatives, Republicans, Christians and Tea Partiers, while simultaneously insisting that we hold only individual miscreants to blame for the many and wide spread evils inflicted upon their fellow human beings by Muslims, both within and without their faith.

And the second is the poll showing widespread support in much of the Muslim world for the barbaric practices which we are constantly told by liberals are only committed by “extremists.”

Curious, that.

All of us (except the crazies) acknowledge that there are many good conservatives, many good Christians, and even these days some good Republicans left. There are *no *teabaggers who are not retarded, because their entire platform is based on lies and misinformation.

A key indicator of stupidity is not realizing that you’re committing the exact sin you’re arguing against.

Just sayin’.

If you can point to instances where I’ve insulted you without provocation, I will most certainly apologize. Believe it or not I have a fair amount of regard for your intelligence, your general posting style, and for you as a person. I honestly can’t think of a single time when I’ve said anything critical of you because of something someone else said.

Well, what I’m “just sayin’” is what’s good for the goose is good for the gander. You can’t very well make broad brush characterizations of conservatives and Republicans and Tea Partiers while simultaneously insisting that conservatives not make broad brush condemnations of Muslims.

In other words, a key indicator of stupidity is not realizing that you’re being a hypocrit.

Ai yi yi, magellan01, I’ve been busting my butt here trying to establish the common ground for non-bigoted opponents of radical Islam, and you’re pulling it all apart again.

Look what you did in this very post to conflate “Islam” and “radical Islamism”. In one breath you say “Islam by itself is not the problem”, and in the next (or previous) breath you talk about “shining a spotlight on Islam” or “pointing a finger at Islam”.

If you mean that Islam by itself is not the problem, then don’t use “Islam” by itself with no qualifiers when you’re talking about what IS the problem.

If you mean to criticize and condemn radical extremist forms of Islam (which I think is a perfectly valid thing to do), then use that terminology consistently. For Og’s sake, stop switching back and forth between the terms “Islam” and “radical Islam” as though they mean the same thing.

That is precisely what’s giving the continued impression here that you’re spewing bigotry against Islam in general, not just presenting a totally justifiable rant against radical Islamists.

Well, we could make them wear some kind of an identifying badge or armband . . . there’s already a color code system we could adopt. Just needs a little tweaking!
Oh, and when we actually catch a terrorist, or some one has accused of being a terrorist (and really who would accuse someone of that if they weren’t actually guilty), they could get a tattoo too!

Just my modest proposal.

CMC fnord!
Strange how familiar that “Very easy.” link felt . . . of yeah, maybe because of this.

Now? Now, will you guys listen? Cognitive dissonance, the number one threat to the Republic! If you will all join the Mother’s March Against…hey, quit shoving! That’s really uncool, stop tha…

Well, blow me!

Wait, what?

Oh, I mean blow me down! You could have knocked me over with a feather with this remark. Certainly acknowledgements of good conservatives and good Christians are in exceedingly short supply from the liberal contingent, both around here and in the overall national dialog. Or at least not on the part of those who have a voice.

I’m sure there are good conservatives. They just aren’t the ones in charge.
