Mornington Crescent

I do take it the 1998 (trumpintons revision) rules on diaganals are still in effect

Are you saying they’ve moved New Cross north of the Thames?

I don’t really understand how this game works… but can I say Waterloo East?

Having thought about it I probably should have stayed out of this, seeing as I don’t really get it. Apologies to captain_snort.

[leaves quietly]

I’m in.

Disregarding Waterloo East (a good try, but a beginner’s move - from there it would’ve only been three moves to Parson’s Quibble) I’m going to play East Ham with shunting.

I’d like, if I may, to remind people that bolding stations is traditional and allows for ease of viewing when considering a jigsaw move.

The revised (1847) Bradshaw Rules suit me fine. I say we go on with that until a double diagonal is played, at which point we can choose between Fancy’s Dip and the controversial Pintler Revision.

[homer drool]Eats Ham…mmmmm[/homer drool]. I was going to go for High Street Kensington, but Trumington’s revision allows for double huffing on even numbered moves (I’m sure we all remember what that would mean). So, on reflection, I’ll reverse the shunt which takes me to Mill Hill (Thameslink, of course)

hmmm, I se you are playing blenkinsops faux pa, I will have to not fall in the trap and go for green park, but be nasty and say …
London Bridge

still south

Okay. I’m declaring a start at Croxley. I’m going to transfer a unit to Harrow-on-the Hill and announce a Interchange exception.

I think I see what Fran’s trying to pull… captain_snort, she’s after you!

laurange nice move. i offer pax - care to join me in a pincer move?

I advance to Baker Street in anticipation…

personally, I would bifuricate to Elephant and Castle, but since it is still within the 20 year limit set by Hodgson’s Decree I’ll have to abandon thqat move (it being the 11th of the 11th) and will have to play Edgeware Road.

istara, you know that map is not the newest, right?

[sup]Wait, never mind, I see why you selected it.[/sup]

Seeing that we’ve had all this activity south of the river, I declare Rotherhithe with a Brunel-class H. E.

Sure, garius. As long as we’re on terms of the CSB declaration. Assuming you agree, I’ll foist to Maida Vale.

…and straight into my little trap!

I play Perivale - “Dartner’s Twist” once more popping up with devastating effect!

I’m reading the moves. I’m looking at the map. It isn’t helping. Are there elements of Calvinball in this game? Are you people making up rules as you go, or is there some hidden Commuter Lore I’m not tapped into?

Would `Charing Cross with a wicked googly diagonal double-plus-Tuesday rule’ be a valid move?

Can anyone give me any clue about this ultraorganized madness?

nice try istara but it’ll be a cold day in hell before i let anyone pull the Prescott Offensive on one of my allies.

i loop through to North Acton and call “Signal Failure”.

If you can get out of that one i’ll be very impressed…

LaurAnge - i’m kinda exposed Northbound - any chance you can help me out??

Come on now, lets not get silly.

Garius, calling signal failure at North Acton leaves Ealing Broadway inaccessible until West Ruislip is played. Your Northbound may be exposed but the West is truly tied up. From here I’m going to sidle to Kentish Town with Archie’s Skipping. I can only hope someone will provide a skipping ground.

I will take Finchley Central.

I am trying to develop a strong northern presence before I go south with a bit of power behind me.

or am I?

As long as I can take the stairs, the Covent Garden is permissable. I believe they still permit skipping in the rotunda. That also frees up the west, but only on stations beginning with a vowel. (Taylor vs Rushden 1958)

Covent Garden skipping suits me fine. The stairs can be traversed forwards or backwards - either is acceptable. Finchley Central is a bold move but your northern presence is indeed looking fortified (I’m going to take your play at face value - tricksy strategising is always best politely nodded at) and it does have the advantage of allowing all other players in Nipsy to take a corner. I’m going to take that corner and move to Picadilly Circus.

Which forces me to say Euston Square. So close, but yet so far :sigh:
