Most Addictive New Food You've Discovered?

Damn straight. Although I at least use those Honey Maid graham sticks as a shovel.

I’ve been eating jalapeno stuffed green olives daily. In fact, several nights this month, a beer and some of these Mediterranean delicacies have been my not so balanced dinner. And I’ve never been a fan of green olives. Pimentos are so very wrong, I was blinded to the beauty of the green olive without.

I agree on the Trader Joe’s gyoza. Several of those fried up and smothered with sweet chili sauce is a fabulous low effort dinner.

Mangos are my absolute favorite fruit, only possibly paralleled by properly ripened apricots. Unfortunately, the allergic reaction one poster upthread mentioned is caused by the same chemical that causes rash in poison oak. Exposure actually sensitizes a person, so I have to limit my mango consumption during the field season (when the mangos are most scrumptious) to lessen my already high susceptibility to that vile weed Rhus triolobatus.

I’m not sure I’m addicted, but I’ve also been eating a lot of fruit-flavored, cultured soy yogurt facsimile. I actually prefer the texture to regular yogurt.

Tomorrow’s a Trader Joe’s run. Joy!!

Thai sticky rice with fresh mango on top…yummmm…

(hi ya’ll I’m new here!)

Amaretti di Sarronno. Soft Italian cookies that pack one hell of an almond-flavor punch!

My dad has been in the hospital (he’s home now, don’t worry) and the folks at his work sent him this gargantuan gift basket. Mom immediately recognized the Amaretti di Sarronno, and upon getting Dad and his gift basket home she opened the Amaretti. (With Dad’s permission.)

Oh my. Almond heaven! It’s a good thing they’re in little individual pouches that are tough to open, or I would have scarfed the whole dang box down by now (and probably made myself sick by doing so.)

Baskin and Robbin’s Berry Smoothie. I got one the other day when it was 90 degrees out and humid as hell. I swear I didn’t drive more than three miles down the road before that sucker was empty. Thought about turning around for another one.

Ginger and sesame marinade on chicken. I just can’t stop thinking about it.

Off to the store to buy mangos and Nutella.

Cherries dipped in chocolate sauce.

Welcome aboard(s), Adelita!

Tansu, it sounds like you’re a prime candidate for Harry and David’s Royal Cherry Chocolates. I have it on good authority that these are niblets of the Gods.

Yeah. 5-week backpacking trip this summer. Went for the first three weeks without any sort of soy products (which have been my life sustainers since going veggy 4 years ago). Got 2 packs in the mail. Ate 2 packs in 15 minutes. Got very very sick. Still love it.

Also - organic baby carrots. Gotta be organic, preferably with ranch dressing to dip them in. I can seriously sit down and eat an entire pound of carrots at a time.

Omigod, this is NOT the thread to read when you’re hungry.

Some things I have to agree with that have been mentioned before – mango (anything!), curry (anything!), and edamame. I could eat edamame all night! And of course good gumbo. If I ever leave New Orleans, I am gonna DIE. But having had homemade potstickers once at a Chinese friend’s house, any others pale in comparison.

One of my favorites that hasn’t been mentioned is cheese curds – particularly from the Amish farmer’s market in Burtonsville, Maryland (only open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) – I guarantee you’ll want to eat the whole package in one sitting!

But someone LIKES bean paste?? I’ve never forgotten the lovely turnover I got at a bakery while in Japan, not knowing what was in it but assuming SOMETHING edible, sat down and ate lunch and then took a big bite of it for dessert – and it was filled with red bean paste. Ewwww!

If you’re inclined to scarf down entire bags of chips (Doritos, potato chips, whatever), steer clear of Tostitos Hint of Lime Tortilla Chips. Limey, salty, and crunchy. Lord help me. There’s just no stopping once you’ve ripped open the bag. Real diet food, of course!

At least I’m not alone in this particular addiction: the supermarket I go to has a whole friggin’ shelf full of the suckers, so I know there are a lot of people buying them.

Lately my Diet has consisted of those potato chip sticks (You know, the ones in the can) with Ranch dressing on them, before like, last month I had no idea that those little sticks existed. I LOVE THEM

I know that I can’t be the first one to notice this! (OK, maybe I am)…

Coincidence? You be the judge!

Okay, so I read this post about dried mangoes and decided to give them a try. I found them at my local Asian grocery store. Now, I’m completely addicted. They should have a government warning on each bag.

I make something that is so addictive I actually named it Chocolate Crack (the woman who gave me the recipe didn’t have a name for it). The good news is that it is easy to make; the bad is that it could not be more fattening.

Chocolate Crack

Melt 2 sticks of butter. Add 3/4 cup light brown sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. After 12-15 minutes, mixture will be thick (for the candy makers among us, I think it is the soft ball stage). Pour it over graham crackers that you have used to line a rectangular cake pan or casserole dish. Bake for 10 minutes at 350. Top with a bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips, spread when they are melted. Refrigeratefor a couple of hours. Break into pieces. Feed one to the monkey on your back.

Fatty, sugary chocolate? Yeah, that sounds like it might have some food addiction appeal to it,

but,

in all the years I’ve been stomping the Earth, no other food has managed to trigger my “feeding frenzy” behavior every single time I’ve eaten it besides PIZZA. Not fancy garlic-tips-and-artichoke-hearts pizza, just plain old ordinary pepperoni pizza with extra cheese. Freshly baked from a local pizza restaurant like Round Table or one of those little mom-and-pop places that puts a dash of chili powder into the sauce.

There’s something about fresh hot pizza that makes me want to eat all of it, right now, even if it’s a 20-inch extra large. Something about how if it cools off it won’t be as good. Some anthropologists believe this is due to the fact that freshly-killed meat is warm and if you let it cool off it might spoil or get eaten by scavengers so you’d better eat it right now.

I’ve had to throw out my pizza coupons just to keep myself below 113 kilograms!

Anything with feta cheese, olive oil, garlic and dill. I have a herb garden in the front yard, and the only thing I can’t grows is dill, which is very hard on me.

(I shouldn’t read these threads at work…haven’t eaten in 8 hours, so hungry)

Skittles…I’ve had a Skittles habit for almost 30 yrs now and it’s getting worse. I can eat a LOT of those little guys in a sitting…ummmm

Ahhh, I love skittles. Then I read the ingredients, and they have gelatin in them. :frowning:

So now I eat those Nibs things (little pieces of licorice) which are almost as good.

So how do you make this shoyu ninniku? I can’t find any recipes for it online, but it definitely sounds like my kinda thing.

Oh, my dear sweet lord, those things are proof that the Goddess loves her children. I don’t even like chocolate covered cherries but I love these things.

It’s a damn good thing we can’t afford them or they would be in the house all the time and Shannara would be popping them like Tic Tacs.

We have recently discovered Parrot Ice. Frozen (real) strawberry goodness that taste just like a strawberry margarita sans tequila. Foertunatly, they are cheap. Unfortunatly, the sell them right down the street.

And around the corner we can get Frozen Dr Peppers. Hmm
