Most Addictive New Food You've Discovered?

Thai coconut ice cream and vietnamese spring rolls.

Blue Castella cheese on Kashi crackers. Insanely good cheese.

Welcome aboard(s), Bugnorton!

And yeah, musicguy, cha gio (Vietnamese spring rolls) are one of nature’s perfect foods. Very little fat (until you dip them in the peanut sauce), lots of tasty ingredients and some healthy vegetative matter to boot.

I’ll pass on the coconut ice cream, though. I can only eat coconut straight out of the shell. All other forms make me gag, or worse.

Horchata, a sort of cinnamon-flavored rice milk. Strangely refreshing served very cold. Usually found in old-fashioned juice coolers (the kind where liquid runs down the side of a square glass vessel) at tacquerias (sp?). There’s a mix, available in the Mexican isle in my supermarket that’s ok, but not as good.

Wasabi peas and dried mangos are good, too, or did someone already say that?

I’ll bite. What is this? (Or is it just a Dr Pepper … frozen?)

There are these tofu ice cream sandwiches on the market called Tofutti Cuties. They come six (or maybe eight) to a box, but they’re half the size of your typical ice cream sandwich. So it’s like a porno banner: once you get a taste you just want one thing. MORE.

You may think tofu is weird (because you’ve never tried it), but these are off the charts. It’s almost an awful experience because you don’t go away feeling satisfied unless you finish off the box–and then you feel horrible, of course. Chocolate or strawberry flavor.

YOU’VE BEEN WARNED.

Seriously.

Oh my god. Tofutti Cuties. My heart beats for thee. Their tiny size does indeed summon a dire need to consume the entire box.

Other addictions as of late:

Seasoned rice vinegar! The garlic variety in particular. Bitchin’ sprinkled over chilled cucumber slices.

I’ve also been yearning for eggplant curry from Paru’s… or hell, anything from Paru’s. They also have this fresh mango juice which is just indescribably good.

A place where I used to work, called Out of the Kitchen, makes these apparently irrisistable cupcakes that people go crazy for. Those were great, but the thing I cannot stop thinking about is their strawberry pie. It was perfect!!

Yummm. Gotta go back there tommorow.
