most annoying educational pre k-hs kids show

I mean anything you can see on PBS kids nickelodeon Disney or Disney junior discovery kids ect

A lot of people mention cailiou which dosent count anymore ive recently found one that’s just as bad “Daniel tigers neighborhood” its based on the make believe skits of mr rogers …. and has all the whining and none of the charm …

The original Thomas the tank engine not the newer cgi ones I mean the older stop motion ones that were litertal adaptations of the books whos moral was "unless your “useful” you have no reason to exist
and the short lived bob the builder reboot that had almost nothing ot do with the original
any more you hate?

I find “Peppa Pig” charming, but I probably wouldn’t if I had to listen to it several hours a day.

Before my brother and his wife had their kids, they agreed that their house would be a Barney-free zone; someone once gave them a bag of stuffed animals that included Baby Bop, and they did allow the kids to play with it because it wasn’t Barney’s loathsome purple self. Someone else asked me, “What was their issue with Barney, beyond the fact that it’s terribly annoying to anyone over the age of 6?” and I replied, “You just answered your own question.”

As for older kids, more than one parent has told me that the only channel they blocked was Disney, because a lot of their programming featured kids being very disrespectful to adults and this was portrayed as being funny. They didn’t block MTV, Spike, Bravo (the current version), etc. because their programming is not aimed at children.

I take it they’ve never seen much of kids tv other than full house… peppa pigs humor is a bit more sophisticated now a days then it was in the first season or two .

But if you want to see a kids show that went off the rails into some serious passive aggressive commentary “ben and hollys little kingdom” made by the creators of peppa pig … some episodes you wonder if it was really meant to be a kids show ….

one thing im glad PBS got out of the habit of is having a dumb live action or puppet story framing the story shorts like when I first seen cailou on PBS they had some vaguely related story with his cat and toys in between the show parts
they did this with Thomas and called it shining time station but realized the kids just wanted to see the cartoon parts (and it was cheaper) so they dropped it

Nobody better say Peg + Cat

When my daughter was younger, I really didn’t mind a lot of the kids shows. I could either find some interest in them or at least tune them out. There were two exceptions. Dora The Explorer, but mostly because of the song the map sang. It drove me up the wall. Also, the long drawn out pauses while they waited for the viewer to answer a question bugged me as well. But mostly the map thing.
Then there was Max and Ruby. One of the few shows I wouldn’t let her watch. I don’t think a 2 year old is going to pick up on this (and this type of stuff doesn’t usually bug me, hell she was watching Spongebob)…it’s about a brother and sister rabbit. My issue is that the older sibling (Ruby) treated her younger brother like dirt. She’d wouldn’t let him play with toys, if she messed something up, she’d blame him etc. By the end of the show, whatever thing he did that she was tearing him a new one over, someone benefits her and she’s thrilled. He gets treated like crap, she takes the win. She’s a bully.

I forget the name, but it was a show in the 90s that was bilingual - and the children always said the same exact thing in both English and Spanish. I don’t know very much Spanish at all, but I have internalized it enough that the show felt like they were always repeating something rather than translating.

Boohbah was like a Fever Dream.

dora was one of nick jr’s " lets forget about the actual premise of the cartoon and just go with it (see also bubble guppies in which the fact they live underwater is virtually ignored 2 minutes after the first episode starts) "

The original dora the explorer was inspired by blues clues the premise was " dora was a PC game that the viewer helped the little girl playing it …which is why the first dozen episodes or so theres no personality to any of the characters and you see a cursor arrow moving around the screen and pc like beeping and they didn’t move much…

Another nomination is any of the million and a half generic cgi “cars” wannabe shows imported from Europe …….you see these on channels that want to look educational but dont wanna spend money doing so… if its planes boats ect you can trade one for another and no one’d notice …

Too advanced?

I’ve never seen that, but my brother said it was like the Teletubbies on acid.

Accurate description, it was the show I came to mention. I also agree with another poster upthread, Dora was very annoying, to the point of craziness. We were also a Barney free household.
