I think a lot of people (at least around these parts) might have a hard time taking a politician seriously when they’re posting upskirts(#9), glamor (orgy?) shots(#11) and what appears to be a picture in a cheer leading costume (#12, and I know it’s not, I don’t know what it is).
Tangentially related, so feel free to ignore: This reminds me of a news clip of Bill Clinton, when he was Prez, meeting with a Congresswoman from Florida. His first remarks were about her being a pretty lady. Um, no she wasn’t. She wouldn’t scare small children, but there was nothing about her you could call pretty.
But most of all, what kind of thing is that to say about an elected representative? Had it been a man, I’m confident he wouldn’t have called him a handsome guy. I found his comments to be patronizing and cringeworthy. Had it been a social situation, it wouldn’t have bothered me, but it was a political event - her campaign, I think - and he’d have done well to comment on her accomplishments. Then again, she was a bit of a dud, so maybe he did her a kindness…
End of rant.
I agree with what they said about Bachman - she’s an attractive woman, till she opens her stupid mouth. And I agree with Joey P - what were they thinking??
Well, on that list there’s Ayla Malik from Pakistan, and Kelly Ayotte who has non-white heritage, and Ruby Dhalla who is a Sikh, and Yuri Fuyikawa who is Japanese. That’s four non-whites.
Except for Fuyikawa (who still has light skin), those are all white. The only other arguably non-white person is Argentinian President Kirchner. And, in other pics, she’s very clearly white. (Hispanic/Latino are not a race. You can be white Hispanic.)
Not that is matters, since he didn’t say anything about other than there are no black women. He’s talking about the “light skin” favoritism.
As for the list itself, it’s a mixed bag, and well out of order. I don’t have a problem with the last pic, though. Malik and Bonk are contenders (despite being nowhere near each other or Fuyikawa on the list), but I can at least conceivably give it to Fuyikawa.
I’d be interested in seeing nominations for the “most attractive black female politicians” list. But not enough to start a thread about it.
If anyone else does, can I suggest we include non-Africans with dark skin, such as Pacific islanders and south Indians, as well? Because plenty of them ring my bell.
In fact let’s just go ahead and add Princess Elizabeth of Toro, AKA Elizabeth Bagaaya, to the list; African royalty, a model, and a politican too. She was pretty smoking back in the 70s.
Stephanie Sandlin was my research/writing instructor in law school, which was my favorite 1L class. Had it been taught by anyone else, I probably never would have shown up.
