I always thought the PCP Turns You Into Homocidal Zombie thing was akin to the LSD Makes You Jump Off A Building Because You’ll Think You Can Fly thing.
The cops seem to be the ones perpetuating the myth. I never hear it from anyone who actually indulged in the stuff.
Yeah, it’s a “reefer madness” kind of thing, although people can have hella bad psychotic reactions to different drugs. I think it’s user-specific rather than drug-specific, but then again I might be talking completely out of my ass. 
They are too busy trying to display their moral superiority with righteous indignation. It takes a lot of energy and concentration.

I saw this on the news while I was getting my nails done on Friday. I was horrified when I realized we were watching the local news and not like, Dateline. I mean, that sounds terrible to say, but wow.

When I was an EMT, I never saw the LSD-makes-you-think-you-can-fly thing, but I did see the PCP-makes-you-a-crazed-maniac thing. Obviously it’s not the drug alone, but an individual’s idiosyncratic reaction to the drug. That said, it’s not a total Reefer Madness propaganda ploy.

You missed the point. Cisco’s comment was not restricted to the case in the OP and the reactions in this thread. He made a general statement that people’s reactions to bad events (including real-life cases in his life of people dying) are just different and we should accept them all.

I’d still like to see an answer to the question. Because I got to figure, anyone who reads, “There is a spectrum of acceptable responses to tragedy,” and interprets it as, “Any conceivable response to tragedy is acceptable,” has got to be suffering from some sort of higher cognitive malfunction.
