You beat me to the punch on this one, Voodoo Lou. Fight club is the first thing I thought of.
This was actually what I was thinking of when I opened this thread. Another mention is
“Go ahead mum, treat yourself.”
From Heavenly Creatures. I won’t tell the circumstances to anyone who hasn’t seen the movie, but in context, it’s one of the most chilling bits of dialogue ever.
Ugh, that gets my vote. My stomach turned over several time just reading that. Happiness is an incredibly disturbing movie as a whole, and that this line is the most disturbing one in it is really saying something.
Agree, re Happiness.
Mine is from the movie Kalifornia. This may not be exact:
“You’re right. You don’t have a husband.”
I had to turn the movie off and quit watching at that point. I hadn’t liked it much anyway and that was the last straw for me.
from The Lion in Winter (original version- 1968):
50 year old Henry II (Peter O’Toole) to his teenaged mistress Alice, assuring her of his love:
“Alice, in my time I have had whores, milkmaids, courtesans, contessas, queens, novices, gypsies, jades and little boys… but nowhere have I ever found anyone to love but you.” (She smiles with pleasure at the sentiment.)
In the recent remake with Patrick Stewart the “and little boys” part is dropped.
Goeth in Schindler’s List to the Jewish slave-maid he is in love with:
“I know you’re not human in the strictest sense, but…”
Third. Damn you Big Bad Voodoo Lou!
From Alien:
Ash: You still don’t know what you’re dealing with do you? Perfect organism. Its structural perfection is matched only by its hostility.
Lambert: You admire it.
Ash: I admire its purity, its sense of survival; unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality.
And then he says, “Senator, one more thing. Love your suit.” I guess it’s not the line so much as the way his eyes look when he says the last part. EVIL!
“I was cured allright.”—Alex, A Clockwork Orange.
Oh, one more Hannibal Lecter quote (from Silence…)
Starling: Frankly, that’s the kind of thing Miggs would say.
Lecter: Not anymore.
Buffalo Bill in the same movie: x3
It puts the lotion on it’s skin. It does this when it’s told.
It puts the lotion on it’s skin or else it gets the hose again.
Put the fucking lotion in the basket!
Reagan from The Exorcist, speaking in the voice of the possesed, stabbing herself over and over again in the crotch with a crucifix:
Let Jesus Christ Fuck You.
Actually, that line was from the promo posters; it was not spoken, or even alluded to, anywhere in the movie.
Unless we’re talking about the remake, which has Ken Foree (“Peter” from the original) briefly playing a televangelist who quotes that line.
Yes. But the original line was from – come to think of it – the promo posters for the original 1968 Night of the Living Dead, not Dawn of the Dead. And, again, it appeared nowhere in the movie.
Actually, you were right the first time.
“Fire one.”
by James MacArthur’s character in The Bedford Incident, just seen on TCM, as he fires an ASROC missile from the navy destroyer at the unidentified sub after Capt. Richard Widmark says “If he fires one, I’ll fire one.”
Awww, c’mon…how’s about you tell us in a spoiler box? I wanna know why it’s chilling!
In regards to Heavenly Creatures, (briefly)
The movie’s about two young girls who become obsessed with each other and their fantasy world. When they’re threatened with separation, they make a plan to kill one of the girl’s mothers on a walk. Before the walk, the two girls and the mother have tea. The daughter offers her mother a cookie, but she declines because she’s watching her weight. Daughter then tells her, “Go ahead mum, treat yourself.”
I probably didn’t do a good job of capturing why it’s so creepy, but it’s an excellent film that I recommend highly.
A couple from Brazil…
Dr. Lewis Jaffe: Just me and my little knife! Snip snip - slice slice… can you believe it?
Jack Lint: Until this whole thing blows over, just stay away from me.
Eating Raoul:
“And oh, Mary, can you pick up another frying pan? I’m feeling uncomfortable about cooking with the same one we’re using to kill people.”
I think it was in the promo posters for both pictures NOTLD and DOTD.
