Most reprehensible waste of protoplasm on THE WALKING DEAD tv series (open spoilers)

They can’t kill Gabriel until the next black actor shows up . In all seriousness, TWD has gotten MUCH better about having a diverse cast, but it’s funny how the timing of killing the black characters turns out…I swear, it’s never more than one or two episodes apart, as if TWD has some quota to fill. Maybe when Morgan shows up, then Gabriel can die.

The Governor was pretty fucked up and unable to be rational. What bothered me most about that whole dispute is that “his people” followed him to such extremes. I had a real hard time believing that people would be willing to go to war for that prison, especially after Rick was offering a compromise. I actually stopped watching the show for the longest time after that season hiatus, it felt like the show was driving the characters rather than the characters driving the show. Ironically it’s almost a 180 twist right now at Alexandria because the characters are driving their own demise, rather than the writing pulling the characters along.

I don’t think Joe was all that bad – as Daryl mentioned, they had a code and it was easy. Joe was a survivor and did things the best way he knew how. Although as far as I recall, the scene where he died was the first time TWD introduced rape into the dialogue, which immediately transformed his group into something sinister and deserving of death.

Some characters throughout the show have been annoying, but had their purpose, like Dale. He was annoying as all hell, but was helpful, and taught Glenn about RV repair ;). But Gabriel is just taking up space, and I don’t understand his motive for turning on Rick and his group. Just don’t get it. Except for the need to create conflict in the show, I guess.

Or the guy who thinks that raping and killing kids is OK as long you call dibs.

That seems like an artifact of the voting system. If Gabriel is even one iota worse than another character, and everyone agrees on his awfulness, he’ll get all the votes, and the second worst person will get nothing.

Also, I don’t really see why that’s a demerit against The Governor. If the heads were already dead, it’s just a weird hobby. Even if the heads were living, the only thing that makes it worse than mere murder (which plenty of characters engage in) is that it’s desecration of a corpse, which really isn’t all that bad compared to cannibalism and total moral bankruptcy.

I agree with the list Edward The Head posted upthread.

IIRC, and maybe I don’t, a couple of the heads were from the convoy of soldiers that the Governor had ambushed and killed so he could steal their vehicles.

Anyway, generally someone who has a ‘weird hobby’ like the Governor’s seems to have other, even less savory toys in the attic, but I’m not demanding that anyone agree. I’ll leave it at that.

Sorry for the bump, but I’m slowly catching up on the second half of season five. I don’t suppose we can throw an honorable mention to the writers as a waste of protoplasm?

Don’t make me throw this beehive at you.

The Termites are probably the worst. Yeah, they were abused in the past, so? You still don’t eat people! EVER!

The Claimers were bad, but at least they weren’t ever pretending not to be.

I think Gabriel has just gone loco in the cabeza. Not everyone is suited for life in the zombpocalypse, it’s just a quirk of fate that this looney is still around and that Rick’s guys happened to drag him along.

Dawn was just trying too hard to maintain order in a world of chaos. She was wrong and bad, but at least her goals were somewhat noble.

Governor was a bad person, as show by leading his second group against the prison, but at least he never ate anyone.

Shane, tried to kill his best bud and steal his woman, yet he didn’t really rise to the level of most of the rest of this list.
