How come on my work PC when when I roll over a thread title there’s a little popup that tells me the first few lines, but on other PCs nothing happens when I mouse over?
Pardon my ignorance, but I’ve tried all the skins, options, etc and read the About SDMB and can’t see this mentioned.
It would be helpful if someone could tell me how to get the mousing over thing happening on my home PC too then I don’t have to go into threads whose topics I know won’t be interesting.

Is the PC at your work the same OS as at home? Any differences between the too? Are the browser settings the same?

Okay - I have two PCs at home and one at work, with NT, 98 and XP respectively. 98 and XP both have mousing over but Win 2000/NT won’t show it.
I’m really enjoying Straight Dope - some thought-provoking posts; even if I don’t post or reply much, there’s plenty of good reading on-board. I see you are a regular - thanks for the welcome!

Well, that’s odd, Boppy. I’ve just check back at an earlier thread, and then it seemed that only Opera browser users were unable to see the text box pop up. Have to leave this for the experts to come in and let us know.
I’m on Win98, IE6 with no problems.
Hi again IceWolf - this must be a really difficult one, since it’s still sitting here unanswered.
As I’m using Netscape and not Opera, I should be able to see mouseovers, yet they are invisible on my PC.
Maybe this will pop up to the top again and catch the attention of a moderator.
