Now, instead of trying to figure out the 3 words ending in -gry, Cecil has provided a treatise on four words ending in -dous.
The respondents give a bunch of other words ending in -dous, including vanadous, molybdous, mucidous, multifidous, nefandous, frondous, and a bunch of others.
I don’t think any of the words suggested, including Cecil’s own “timidous” (as in timid, timider, timidous) meets the criteria of “commonly used” as stated in the original question.
But at least we get to take our minds off of -gry words for a while.
“hazardous”? That makes the fourth, and a “negative” as Asimov requested.
Yes, and Cecil mentioned hazardous in his original answer. But then he added timidous, probably in an attempt to be humordous.
It took me six seconds to come up with voluptuous, so I guess it’s true what they say about guys.
That they have 6 second attention spans?
It’s stupendous that tremendous wasn’t even mentioned
Oh, how stupid I feel now. :o
No. That guys think about sex every six seconds. So I guess you are right.
I gues it “dous” make you a guy, since there’s no dous in voluptuous. :dubious:
My only defense is that I was thinking about something else :smack:
