A hazy memory was recently triggered in my head and now I’m trying to place it. This is what I recall :
It was something I saw on television in the mid-80’s. It might have been a TV show or made-for-TV movie but I remember it looking more like it was made in the 70’s and probably a theatrical release. (So it wasn’t any of the three or four 1990’s Last Supper movies.)
All I really recall is that the Last Supper was used in it – and I think it was either Dali’s, or another variation of da Vinci’s that was similar to Dali’s. Although I’m pretty sure it was Dali’s. The painting either showed up in various scenes or was the final scene of the movie. I think it might have been like a vision of one of the characters – and I think at some point (especially if it was the last scene) the camera exited out one of the windows and into the background.
For some reason the direction of the movie vaguely reminded me of Kubrick’s 2001. I don’t mean to throw anyone off by this, I think it just narrows it to between say, 1965-1983, most likely 1970-1977. So it might have been a dubbed version of the 1976 Cuban movie (La Ultima cena). Anyone seen that, or the one I’m actually remembering?
