I’m glad Penna. got Groundhog Day and not Rocky!

I thought Texas getting No Country was bad until I saw Georgia get Deliverance. Actually though, considering that Chigurh was more representative of evil in general than some regional product, the rest of the cast and certainly the rough, stark relationship between the land and it’s people was reasonably accurate. I’ve known people like Llewellen, Carla Jean and Ed. Plus, Cormac usually gets things, at least a reasonable part of them, just about right.
I’ve never hear of “Gummo”: why didn’t Ohio get that classic “Heathers”?
What genius thought white text on a yellow background was a good idea?
Why is Missouri Jesus Camp and North Dakota is Jesus Camp (again), did they think everybody would read the map from right to left?
Oregon is The Goonies? I suppose The General would have been hoping for too much, but Short Circuit would have been better.
Ohio is Gummo? Never heard of it. (The movie, I mean. I’ve heard of Ohio.)
What does Delaware have to do with Wayne’s World?
There’s a scene in the film where Wayne and Garth talk about being magically whisked away to Delaware. It lasts all of five seconds.
And that’s the only reference to Delaware I can think of in any movie.
Any idea what Illinois is? I can’t read it.
For those who haven’t seen “Gummo”, you’re in for a very bizarre experience.
Blues Brothers.
It’s “Blues Brothers”: an excellent choice of a movie.
Illinois looks to be Blues Brothers.
No! That’s our movie!
Why couldn’t THAT be the Ohio movie? Or A Christmas Story? Or Major League? (ok granted those are all Cleveland movies…)
Gummo? F’ this map!
I’d never heard of SLC Punk, Gummo, Jesus Camp, American Movie, or The Ice Storm. There are a few others I’m only vaguely aware of (The Tao of Steve, Kalifornia). I thought I’d never heard of Rocket Boys until I typed it into IMDb and October Sky came up. WTF?
While I’m not really sure what the whole point of this exercise is, if it were me I think I’d choose movies that most people know exist. And, you know, get the titles right.
And then there’s this:
Except for a single scene, Fargo does take place in Minnesota! So the site is agreeing with an incorrect correction. :smack: Whatever, I guess.
There’s also The Oh in Ohio, for those who like the state’s name in the movie title. (Even if it’s another Cleveland movie.)
My first thought was “Is there any way Jersey is going to be anything other than Clerks?”
No, no there isn’t.
Let’s see, Oklahoma gets Twister, instead of, oh I don’t know, Oklahoma!:dubious:
If it was Oklahoma, everybody would think he started with all the state names filled in and then forgot to think of a movie for that one.
I saw that the other day. After reading the complaints about Fargo, I thought, “Get rid of the second Jesus Camp, move Fargo where people seemed to want it (rightly or not) and make Purple Rain Minnesota’s movie”.
Profit.
Twister is MUCH more representative of Oklahoma than Oklahoma. I’ve seen many twisters, but never once seen a surrey (with or without fringe on top).
I think we can do better than this. Let’s give it the old SDMB try:
