Starring : Billy Warlock, Devin Devasquez + Others
Director : Brian Yuzna (of Re-Animator fame)
Billy (Billy Warlock) seems to have everything. He lives in a beautiful mansion with his beautiful family (Mum, Dad and Sister) and is popular and successful at school. He is not happy though; he has a nagging feeling that he is somehow different from his family. A high school friend, Blanchard, also senses that something is not quite right so sets off to investigate. What follows is about an hour of not-too-mysterious mystery as Billy uncovers the dark secrets his family his hiding. Then all hell breaks loose as Billy confronts his family & others at a large ball being held in his house. Billy witnesses what is about to happen to him and tries to escape.
The delightfully named Screaming Mad George has constructed the most bizzare, surreal and plain wierd finale to a movie which in some ways it could be described as a living Dali painting.
Shot on a low budget and using latex style effects this is one of the finest example of a very, very darkly comic horror/mystery film. Don’t expect lots of polished digital effects 'cause they aren’t there, just lots of highly imaginative uses for latex
It also includes one of my favorite lines in a movie; “I’m not paranoid, all my fears are real”. Quite wonderful when seen in context.
Overall score : 10/10 if you like wierd movies, 2/10 if you don’t.
