Movies that are crap, but you like anyway

I should think the Smoky and the Bandit pretty much rules this category of film.

I also enjoy Bring It On, and it’s a shared guilty pleasure between me and one of my best friends.

To add to the list: Revenge of the Nerds (the first two movies), I Eat Your Skin (okay, so this may not count, for I enjoy it in an MST3K way), Earth Girls Are Easy, Airplane, and The Sweetest Thing (there’s nothing like being a carefree college freshman and singing ‘the penis song’ from this movie at the top of your lungs late at night while wandering across campus).

*Gang Leader: Don’t fuck with the Lords of Hell.
Chris: Don’t…fuck…with the babysitter. *

How about Water, one of Michael Caine’s “pay the rent” movies? Wonderfully bad, but with a concert by George Harrison, Eric Clapton and a few others that saves the film.
*Baxter Thwaites: How can we maintain decorum if our spiritual leader is trying to put his hand up Miss Cascara’s skirt?
Delores: You prefer he put his hand up my skirt?
Baxter Thwaites: Ar least you’re used to it. You won’t scream. *

I enjoy Surf Ninjas way too much. How could I not? It has both Ernie Reyes Sr. and Jr.!

I’ve watched every James Bond film. I think Moonraker would fit in this category. I’m sure other people would probably add some of the other 1970s and 1980s Bond films.

I love them all.

Oops, forgot “Gone In Sixty Seconds,” the cheesy Nick Cage/Angelina Jolie remake–aw, just love them purty cars…

Another vote for Starship Troopers. I mean, what’s not to love? Glorified violence, co-ed showers, Neil Patrick Harris… it has it all!
The sequal was even better! Not only did they reuse the CGI footage of bugs from the first movie, but halfway through filming they ran out of money and decided to switch from bugs to zombies!! (much cheaper on props, I surmise)
Still, I think it would have made a better musical. Starship Troopers 2: Electric Bugaloo. You know you’d go see it.

A personal favorite of mine is Brain Smasher-A Love Story . Filmed in Portland with Andrew Clay and Teri Hatcher.
“If my sister says you’re a ninja, you’re a goddamn ninja!”

A couple of people have already mentioned Dude, Where’s My Car. I really like that movie.

And I’d like to offer one that is officially crap — so crappy that it was Alan Smitheed, and that’s Morgan Stewart’s Coming Home. I actually like it. With Jon Cryer and Lynn Redgrave, what’s not to like?

Another vote for Hudson Hawk. I also liked:

Galaxy Quest
Evolution
Fifth Element

Some of the outfits the girls wear- YOWZA!!!

My guilty pleasure (besides many already listed) is Doc Savage, Man of Bronze.

I like Starship Troopers as long as I can convince myself that the similarity in titles between this campy movie and the great REH book is just a coincidence. Same goes for Conan.

I really dig some that have been mentioned:

Earth Girls are Easy
Xanadu
Armageddon
I love Adventures in Babysitting , but I don’t consider it a crap movie.
I’m the only one I know that likes Grease 2. What’s worse, is that I’d rather watch it than *Grease. *

:smack: How could I have forgotten Adventures in Babysitting.

I have it on DVD and watch it at least once a month - but my movie rewatch rate is high as crap because we only get 4 channels here. There are some movies I watch once a week…

Brendon

Fifth Element is one of my favorite crap movies. Nothing says “Step-n-Fetchit” better than Chris Tucker screaming at the top of his lungs, but I will still watch that shit whenever it comes on TV.

…and brilliantly recapped by Sobell.

“The movie opens with the insistent buzz of Jan Hammer’s finest, i.e. the ability to hold two fingers on a synthesizer keyboard for five minutes straight…”

The best worst movie I know is Zachariah , known as “the first hippie western”.

The plot and acting are not only atrocious, but practically superfluous. But when that movie rocks, it ROCKS!

Wait, *Fifth Element * is an option as a crap movie? That is in my top 5 movies of all time. I thought it won some awards and such for being just really awesome action sci-fi…

Okay, I’m ready now. Lord of the Rings.

I’ll watch G.I. Jane whenever it will come on television.

I also liked Armageddon, The Fifth Element and Bring it On.

For a period in my life I watched Coyote Ugly about 20 times.

I also enjoyed American Pie, Bleacher Bums and Crank.

Too many to mention, but some that spring to mind…
