Movies you cannot channel surf past...

I don’t care how many times I’ve seen these movies, but I am constitutionally incapable of channel surfing past them:

  • Any James Bond flick, especially the most recent with Daniel Craig.
  • Oceans I, II or III
  • Gross Point Blank
  • Snatch
  • Lock/Stock/Barrel
  • Rock’n’Rolla
  • Layer Cake

You?..

The ‘Harry Potter’ weekends, on some family channel. I don’t care for the earliest or the very last movies, but I will watch the middle ones for my favorite parts. ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy, I have watched each one umpteen times. … Used to be ‘The Matrix’, but got a bit worn out. ‘Gladiator’, and ‘300’ are always a treat. … I’m sorry, but I guess I’m one of ‘the people’ in the phrase ‘give the people what they want’.

Zombieland is a good one for me. It’s funny, I can get into it from just about any point of the movie and it’s pretty short so I don’t get sucked into a three hour hole of watching some epic on TBS.

Pulp Fiction or Goodfellas will always get me to put the remote down, at least for a little while (I mean, at this point I’ve seen them both enough times).

The Poseidon Adventure

Bride of Frankenstein

Die Hard

Zardoz
Sexy Beast
Chinatown/Replusion/Rosemary’s Baby
Owning Mahoney
Alien
Taxi Driver/King of Comedy

Dr. Strangelove
All the President’s Men (seen at least ten times, just to see Robards yelling “WOOD-STEIN!!!”)
Apocalypse Now/first two Godfathers
A Hard Day’s Night
possibly 7 trillion more

Murder by Death.

OMG, I love that movie. It isn’t the “best” movie ever made – far from it! – but it is absolutely my favorite. I’ve seen it more than forty times.

For some reason, I can never resist pausing over Mac and Me.

Shawshank Redemption

I cannot resist anything in the Southern Gothic genre.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
Streetcar Named Desire
To Kill a Mockingbird
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane

Crimes of the Heart is practically home movies of my family

Apollo 13

Mainly the Bonds. They’re on pretty much non stop around Thanksgiving. Even though I have them all on blu ray, if I notice one on tv, I’ll usually watch if it’s a scene I like.
