Movies you can't not watch

Groundhog Day
Jaws
Moonstruck
My Cousin Vinny
On Golden Pond
Miracle on 34th Street (orig, B&W)
True Stories

A few years back, one of the premiums was running the Green Mile almost every day it seemed like. I kept landing in the middle, never any earlier than when they first got John Coffey onto the mile, never any later than when they were discussing the warden’s wife over a picnic. I must have seen the middle of that movie 25 times. When I finally got a chance to put in a DVD, sheesh, there was a whole nother movie there.

Dr. Strangelove

Groundhog Day. but only once per year.

The Breakfast Club
Grease
Pride & Prejudice (BBC/A&E)
Big
Four Weddings and a Funeral
Gone with the Wind

Apollo 13

Moonstruck

Groundhog Day

Demolition Man
Dumb and Dumber
Point Break
Roadhouse

The Fifth Element (“Give me the stones!”)
Enter The Dragon
Tommy Boy
The Santa Clause
Shrek

Shawshank Redemption
Fried Green Tomatoes
Forrest, Forrest Gump
Jaws
The Color Purple
My Cousin Vinnie

I’m sure there are more, but these make me hear my husband in my head saying, “Oh, God! Not that again!” But he likes My Cousin Vinnie.

Desperado. Antonio and Salma are the most beautiful couple in movies EVER!

Little Nemo. Ellen DeGeneres (voice work) is hilarious, and I like the look of it.

Mr. Salinqmind likes Puss In Boots, so we watch that a lot. I like the look of this one, too (though I find it a bit tiresome after a while), and I love the ending, with Lady Gaga’s song, that is brilliant!

The Matrix, LotR trilogy, and Harry Potter…there’s a reason they show these movies over and over and over. I can do something else with these on in the background and watch for my favorite parts.

*Dirty Dancing
Green Mile
Princess Bride
Kill Bill
*

*Dark Victory
The Day the Earth Stood Still
The Fountainhead
Grease
Inherit the Wind
Meet Me in St. Louis
Moonstruck
Some Like It Hot
South Pacific
Them!
Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?

I did not know. That is the other funny thing about my affinity for this movie: that I don’t really know anything about birding, but I would like to learn about it now!

Looking through more posts had to add a few more I forgot…

The Fifth Element
Blade Runner
Band of Brothers
Finding Nemo
Desperado (Yeah, Banderas and Hayek are insanely hot. Speaking of that…)
Any movie with Antonio Banderas in it.

Most of the movies I’ve seen so far, yeah, I’ll watch parts of them that I stumble into on TV if there’s nothing else going on. But The Princess Bride? I’m usually in bed by 11, but last night it was on. I watched it until it ended at 11:30, knowing I would still have to shower, shave, and get ready for bed afterwards.

This, in spite of the fact that I actually have TPB on Blu-Ray and can watch it in its entirety any time I want.

My Cousin Vinny
Blade Runner
Raiders Of The Lost Ark
Star Wars (Episode 4)
Jaws
Galaxy Quest
Godfather I and II
12 Angry Men
Men In Black
The Matrix
Toy Story 2
Alladin

Finding Nemo. Hilarious! And beautiful to look at, as tropical fish are.

Jaws
Tremors
Galaxy Quest
Forrest Gump

Og forgive me, me too! I’ve thought long and hard about why I have become obsessed with such a terrible movie, and I decided that I’m simply insane.

This happened to me but close to the beginning of The Never Ending Story. It became one of my favorites, but I always seemed to catch the movie right when the RockBeater made his first appearance.

The “twist” that the adventure was happening inside the world of a book and the characters became aware that a human reader was “out there” was a neat touch I thought. Imagine the slight letdown when I found out that the beginning showed what now seemed to be lots of unnecessary background that “spoiled” the surprise.

Same here. Og save us!
