Starting this as the twin to the novels-forgotten thread. What movies can you not remember a damn thing about?
I’ve seen Neverending Story about four times. Until the most recent viewing, I couldn’t ever remember a single thing about it.
I saw La Conformiste/Il Conformisto/The Conformist three times before I remembered it. As in, each time I seriously saw it at the video store, thought it sounded interesting, rented it and watched it. I remember it now, though.
This has happened to me many times – and I still don’t remember which movies! I remember the movies I really really liked, and I remember the movies I hated, but I frequently forget the “meh” movies.
The English Patient.
I saw it with my sisters, who were both all over it, but I can’t remember a thing about it except the guy in the turban was a hottie.
I saw Tampopo many years ago, and all I remember now is the egg-cracking scene.
Me, too! I am trying hard to think of one, all I can come up with is “The Sting”. I actually slept through much of it, though. (I admire both Robert Redford and Paul Newman as capable and attractive actors, but I don’t find their movies very engrossing.)

Seriously, we went to Dland last year when they brought it back and the whole family was excited. I was thinking how cool sonce I never saw it during its original run. 5-10 minutes into it, I was like, “Oh yeah. I have seen <yawn> this before.”
So it is pretty bad when not only can you not remember what’s in the movie, you can’t remember that you even saw the movie.
He also later turned up on Lost as the torture specialist.
I can’t remember a single thing about Sweeney Todd. Not one word of it.
I know I’ve seen Michael Clayton more than once, but all I can remember is Tilda Swinton psyching herself up in the bathroom mirror.
All the Star Wars movies. I’ve seen the original three at least four times in my life, once as a kid, then I went to all the rereleases in the 90’s, and my husband is a big fan, so I’ve seen them and all the prequels at least a couple times in the last few years, and for whatever reason they do not stick in my brain. I remember enough to get jokes and references, but aside from a very vague overview, I couldn’t tell you much about the plot. It’s not that I particularly dislike them or anything, I just can’t remember what happens, and I don’t have that problem with many other movies.
The Oceans xx movies. I’ve seen them all, Oceans 11 at least twice, but don’t remember a single scene or event from any of them. I have a hazy memory involving George Clooney and a casino. Looking at the cast lists now, I couldn’t have told you that any of the others were in the movies at all.
Looking over my Oscar nominee spreadsheet for the past few years:
Inside Job, which I had only a couple of hours ago look up in IMDb to convince myself I had actually seen
Day & Night, which I’m guessing was a Pixar short feature, but of which I have no memory
Letters from Iwo Jima, which I remember enjoying but can’t actually remember any of
Lots of others, I’m sure.
The Pink Panther movies and some of the James Bond movies. I’ve seen them all mutiple times, but the details seem to jumble together…
I can’t remember anything at all about George Liucas’ ***THX-1138, ***except that I saw Robert Duvall’s butt.
If I had to forget the rest of the movie, why couldn’t I have forgotten THAT too?
