Movies you're a bit embarrassed about wanting to see

Heh. Actually, I forgot so that can’t be the reason. I’m waiting now though.

I want to see Cursed.

I generally don’t mind terrible movies, as a gamer I consider them for campaigns. There isn’t a movie so bad that it can’t be dismantled to provide gaming material. Except for Underworld.

Lou, I actually did go to the theater, alone, to watch Mean Girls. Thoroughly enjoyed it, but I was clearly not the intended audience for the movie. Looking around the auditorium before the lights went down, I could see that I was one of only four males in the seats, and the only person older than 15 or so. I was 37.

I really really really wanted to see Josie and the Pussycats. But I was broke when it showed up, and it only stayed in my town for a couple weeks.

The last few times I’ve been to Best Buy, they were selling it for $5. Not too bad, even if you think it sucks. I saw it, loved it, laughed hysterically. I thought it was brilliant. I may not be the best person to listen to though, being as easily amused as I am.

When Freaky Friday came out, my sister and I vowed we’d go together and never tell anyone. The theater was packed when we got there, but we were the only two people there to see that movie. Maybe 30 minutes into it, a group of four teens showed up, goofed off for a few minutes, then left. Unfortunately, I’m not so easily amused to actually recommend anyone see that movie.

40-something SWM here and that movie was freakin hysterical!

I’ve caught some of it on TV, but if you’re that curious, you might as well pick up the $5 DVD. At least the three girls are pretty (Rachael Leigh Cook is super-cute!), and the “Pussycats” music is actually sung by Kay Hanley, former singer of Letters To Cleo. Real cute-sounding girly-pop rock, which is kinda fun.

ahem Rachael Leigh Cook is the primary reason I wanted to see the movie…

I’ve listened to a couple of the songs from the movie, and I thought the songwriting was pretty clever in places.

One thing I liked from the clips and stills is that the black girl (can’t remember her name… Valerie?) is playing the bass. Didn’t she just shake a tambourine in the old cartoons? Looks like the Hollywood crowd has finally wised up to the fact that, if you’re going to depict a rock & roll band, there needs to be a bass player in there.

I say that mostly because I can’t remember much about it. Since I can’t remember it, it must not have been good enough to stand out. Plus I watched my first full ep of 8 Simple Rules since John Ritter died tonight, and it was Freaky Friday stuffed into 20 minutes, but instead of just a mom/daughter switch, there was a grandpa/David Spade’s character (who the hell is that, anyway?) switch and a son/gerbil switch. Terribly obnoxious. But it was all a dream in the end. Whatever.

Oh well, I said it before: I’m probably not the best person to listen to when it comes to your home (or theater) entertainment.

Phase42, buy Josie and the Pussycats. You can send it to me if you hate it. :stuck_out_tongue:
