Moving to western Pa.

I am moving to western Pa. soon. Any advice on the best area to live between say, the Pittsburgh airport and East Liverpool Ohio area. Any particularly outrageous taxes that can be avoided? I will probably be renting for the time being, but hope to buy a small condo as soon as possible (unless convinced by dopers that that would bea bad idea.) All advice apreciated. There seems to be a lot of info out there on Pittsburgh, but not so much on WV (say Weirton e.g.) and eastern Ohio. TIA.

Um… why is this in the Pit? Did you miss the MPSIMS link?

Beaver’s nice. I’ve friends who live there. The Beaver High School team name is the Beavers.

How can you go wrong with that?

Since this thread is seeking advice, I’ll move it to IMHO for you.

Well I’m a fan of Pittsburgh, myself. We have the best sports teams and cultural hot spots in the area. If you’re looking for things to do, stick with pittsburgh. I happen to live right by the airport, and it’s nice out here.

I suppose it all depends on what type of person you are…country or city. I couldn’t imagine living away from the city…it just seems creepy “out there”.

Thanks, sorry for the confusion, i thought that was where I was.

You might take a look at Coraopolis. Of course, anything inside Pittsburgh is not much further than being near the airport.

Allegheny county has sales tax of 7%, but everywhere around it (Washington, Westmoreland, Beaver, Butler, Armstrong and Fayette all have sales tax at 6%.

Happy moving.
