MP3 Sites

[I’ve already cleared this with the PTB. Thanks **Skip**!]

I’ve given myself a Christmas present… a really cheapo MP3 player. However, I know absolutely zilch about how these things work and even less on getting the music for them. So I tried to do a little research on who said what was the best but overall that appeared to give the nod to whoever (probably) paid them for the honor. That and the fact that every single list contradicted the other one and left no clear front runner.

Therefore, for those savy users out there, could someone recommend me the best (hopefully) inexpensive site on the web? Needless to say, behind good, ‘not costing much’ only ranks a high second priority.

Merci’.

Can’t beat free.

Are they good? And how about the expertise needed to use the service for those of us that are MP3 newbie impared?

I would suggest Archive.org.
They archive songs from bands who allow live taping, and are often in .ogg form but with an easy freeware tool that can be found on cnet.com, it can be changed over to mp3.
There are only select bands that allow this, and they are live songs instead of studio tracks, but they are interesting and somewhat fun.

Thank you all. These are now on my To Check Out list. So, before I get started into the great unknown, anyone else have more suggestions? Perhaps even a site or four where I’ll have to pay. Not that I’m not enamored of free, since that’s my favorite price, but I just don’t wanna miss anything before I make the ( ::: drum roll please! ::: ) final important decision.
