This could have gone in GQ but since I know that software exists, I’m really asking for opinions about favorite software.
I have a ton of MP3 files that I have basically let get disorganized as hell. Right now they’re grouped into folders of basic category. What I’d like to be able to do is batch change the ID3 tags on all the files in one folder with one value. Like putting the name of the folder into the comment field or something. So that when I sort in Itunes they’re organized in some method I can understand. Unfortunatly I cannot find any category that I can view in Itunes that will display the original file location. The information is in the ‘Get info’ box, but not a field I can sort by. So I’d like to go back to the folders and update a tag field with something that will help me find that group of songs.
I took a look at zdnet and there are dozens of pieces of software that sort of say they do something like that. But I can’t really tell. I’d rather not have to download and install 4 or 5 programs to find the one that does exactlly what I want. I’m not adverse to paying a reasonable sum, but of course free-ware would be even better!
Thanks!
