Mr. Blue Sky's Medieval Torture Chamber....

First into the Chamber of Horrors: People who leave their children locked up in hot cars during the summer.

(Rant meter on, please)

In the past 3 weeks I have read stories of people (and I use the term loosely) who have left their children locked up in hot cars while go do something and when they return, they find a dead child. It happened in a nearby town last year. The “woman” left her daughter strapped in her car ALL DAY while she played video poker!!!

One news story had the “man” saying he “forgot” he’d left the baby in the car!!! For TEN HOURS!!! Forgot? I don’t think so. You “forget” to buy bread at the store. You “forget” you had a dentist’s appointment. YOU DO NOT FORGET WHAT YOU DID WITH YOUR BABY!!!

Nothing short of a slow, painful torture involving being skinned alive and rolled in salt and being doused in alcohol and torched would suffice. And I don’t want to hear any BS about the “person’s” loss of their child to be torture enough! Losing a child is one of the hardest thing any human being can suffer, BUT WHEN YOU ARE THE CAUSE OF YOUR CHILD’S DEATH, YOU DON’T DESERVE TO LIVE!!

If you are so stupid or irresponsible that you allow this to happen to a defenseless child, you should not be allowed to have children.

DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE!

(Rant meter off, please)

how about people who leave their dogs in the car?

Actually, this seems more like an IMHO thread. No profanity, no calling anybody a goat-felcher, no uses of the term “squick” as a verb.

And nothing to disagree with.

WOrking as a locksmith here in Alabama I have seen this happen. The last company I worked for was called and dispatched by the 911 center to unlock these cars when someone locked their child in the car. Most of the times the people knew it had happened right that instant and then called 911. Last summer we averaged 5 to 7 calls a WEEK.
That is to damn many IMHO. We do not have that large of a population base. People get in to much of a fricking hurry and BANG their kids get roasted in an alabama oven.

I was even on TV with the local radio station when they listened in on a scanner and had a camera crew there before I got there. The fire department tried to get it open the 8 minutes it took me to get there. It took me less than a minute to pop the door open.
I finally got to meet Gazia the woman most likely to get stalked by Osip. But, damn, why can’t those people fucking slow down and pay a bit more attention to what they are doing in regards to their childs life and well being?

Osip

iampunha: At least DOGS get commercials warning their owners not to leave them in hot cars (“Hot enough to fry an egg. How enough to fry a dog’s brain.”)

I think you’re being a touch too lenient. What about the maggots, rats, poisonous snakes, spiders, whips, car batteries, acid, and power tools?

I was actually going to start a thread similar to this but since this one is here I hope you don’t mind a minor hijack.

I work in a hospital and we see all manner of stupid things but July 4th last week just really upset me. We had the local police department bring in a Baby X. The baby was alive and is actually in protective custody now.

Baby X was approximately 2 weeks old, 7lbs and cute as a button. The only damage to Baby X seems to be some sunburn on his face.

See, Baby X’s parents wanted to go out on the lake for the holiday. Apparently, Baby X did not like the roar of the motor on the boat and cried when they took him out and it disturned the other people on the boat.

Did Mom put down the margarita, get off the boat and stay with Baby X? No.

Did Dad stop doing tequila shots, get off the boat and stay with Baby X? No.

Did they pay some street kid hanging out on the banks of the lake to keep an eye on Baby X? No.

They did, however, strap little 7lb., 2-week old Baby X into his car seat and set him on the bank while they took the boat out.

Oh sure, they came back to check on him every 20-30 minutes or so but they didn’t put any sunscreen on his face, they didn’t put him in the shade, they didn’t even fucking ask someone to make sure that a dog, a bear (we have had recent bear attacks here), a lonely childless couple or any fucked up pedophiles didn’t take him away–they fucking left this newborn child strapped in a car seat in 90 degree weather while they went out drinking and partying on a boat!

Luckily, someone was watching this spectacle (people leave something on the bank (couldn’t really tell what it was), go out in the boat, come back a half hour later, go over to the thing, look at it, get back on the boat, go out, etc.) and finally decided to walk over and see what they kept checking on.

The Good Samaritan thought the little “package” was a dog or something and was going over to at least move the poor little pooch into the shade. Turns out that instead of Rover, it was sunburned little Junior!

Who the fuck ever thought “Let’s leave our newborn out in the hot sun, unprotected from man, beasts and the elements while we have a good time!” was a good plan??!!??

I’d like to say that the guilt they’ll feel is punishment enough. But I have to wonder if they feel any guilt at all.
